NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / September 8, 2020 / Trained in the fine arts, Dr. Kevin Sadati combines artistic aesthetic with surgical understanding of the human anatomy to become one of the most highly specialized plastic surgeons working today. His practice is named, "The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Lounge," as a testament to his love of art and his vision for his practice. Clients from around the globe travel to see Dr. Sadati for his surgical expertise and the harmonious, natural-looking results he creates for each patient.

Aside from his ability to create natural, and beautiful results, Dr. Sadati makes sure that his practice is incredibly patient-centric. He holds consultations for each patient, in which formulates a custom plan for their needs.

His skill and experience is furthered by his nationally recognized facelift technique called, "Triple-C Plication." This breakthrough muscle tightening method is used for lower face and neck rejuvenation, and was published in the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Journal.

To get where he is today, Dr. Sadati needed to be motivated to branch out and start his own practice. He began his surgical career in Newport Beach around 2005, working in a space he says never quite felt like his own. The culture was incredibly corporate, and Dr. Sadati found that patients weren't getting the care and attention they deserved. So, he began his own practice, first beginning conservatively, while always keeping the bigger dream in his mind.

"As my business and vision began to grow, I hired more employees which gave me the ability to provide a holistic approach to the care I could provide. Ultimately, I decided to build a one-of-a-kind luxury medical practice that I always imagined for my clients. I knew instinctively what this place should be," Dr. Sadati says.

The business itself brings along many challenges. Most recently, Dr. Sadati has focused on keeping patients safe in light of the pandemic. With extensive testing and risk-elimination, Dr. Sadati is able to keep everyone healthy.

"We believe our patients deserve the very best, so we designed a surgical facility that is truly state-of-the-art, equipped with technologically advanced devices and instruments imported from Germany, known for their leading edge and precise surgical manufacturing. Our facility is accredited by AAAHC to provide the highest standard of patient care and safety," says Dr. Sadati.

His patients trust his skill and honesty, leading Dr. Sadati to be voted "Best Plastic Surgeon in Orange County," by Locale Magazine Readers. His colleagues have voted him as the "Best Overall Facial Rejuvenation," and "Best Aesthetic Doctor," at the Aesthetic Show. He has appeared on "The Doctors" TV show by NBC for his outstanding nasal surgical procedures and has taken the nation by storm with his facial rejuvenation techniques.

While there is no shortage of experienced surgeons in Orange County, Dr. Sadati has been picked out by the many, being voted "Best Cosmetic Surgeon" for the 6th year in a row by Orange County Register and recently OC Weekly.

Moving forward, Dr. Sadati always has the next big thing in mind.

"We are looking to continually expand our practice to offer a more comprehensive experience every day. We are looking to bring on more incredible surgeons to offer an even wider variety of specialties. Furthermore, our luxury medical spa is offering the best in non-surgical treatments from botox and fillers to microneedling, lasers, facials, coolsculpting and more. It is our goal to continue offering state of the art equipment to help our clients to continue looking the way they feel," Dr. Sadati explains.

Inspiring and instructional: The Anatomy of MasterClass – Observatory of Educational Innovation

Serena Williams teaches tennis, Stephen Curry the right technique for getting a basketball through the net, Gordon Ramsey instructs cooking, Jodie Foster explains directing, Neil Gaiman, storytelling, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, scientific thinking. These are not just people who are leaders in their field. They are people whom we have admired for a long time. We have consistently consumed their content for years, in some cases, decades. We have an emotional connection with them that derives from the personal significance that we have attached to the ideal we have of these celebrities.

A large audience has followed Jodie Foster's career since her role in "The Silence of the Lambs," perhaps even before. Some people have chosen a career in science thanks to the outreach work of Neil deGrasse Tyson. Others became ardent fans of tennis or basketball after following the athletic trajectories of Serena Williams and Stephen Curry.

The objective of a MasterClass ad is not to sell the idea of learning a discipline or area of theoretical study; it is to bring you close to your heroes and convince you that they will share the secret of what makes them geniuses. However, is the promise fulfilled?

The MasterClass website offers an annual membership for USD 180 that allows access to all the courses in its catalog, nearly four times the price of Domestika's annual plan without a discount. What is the added value of paying this sum instead of just subscribing to a less expensive, similar platform?

First of all, the production values are surprisingly high for an instructional video or tutorial. All the elements, the technical part, the photography, the narrative, the lighting, the shooting angles, all the aspects of production are very well presented. The visual experience when accessing any of these courses is undoubtedly outstanding. It will make the same impression as seeing any of these instructors exercise the disciplines for which we admire them.

The reading materials are complete and useful supplements to the video lessons and provide a more in-depth perspective on what underlies the skills and trajectories of the instructors. The video lessons are presented in brief and agile formats so as not to overwhelm viewers and to be comfortable for audiences at different levels of mastery in diverse disciplines.

On the other hand, the platform does not provide direct access to experts who are instructing us. While the videos do have a question and answer section that can be helpful to clarify a couple of specific questions, they do not provide followup on learning any of the items that instructors teach.

There are also no efficient ways to create a community of apprentices who remain in communication and grow together. The essential elements for continuing education include the social aspects, feedback, and interactions with people who are learning the same thing. The contents of the MasterClass site are presented more as a unilateral experience, in which we only receive the experiences and knowledge of the instructors.

If we approach the courses as vignettes of entertainment, simple instruction, and inspiration, then these sessions work perfectly. As spectators, we may be glued to the screen watching Gordon Ramsey do wonders on a cutting board or Steve Martin explaining how he built a comedy career without considering himself funny in the first place. These are the components of a fascinating story, not necessarily a practical lesson, but isn't that what the MasterClass ad was selling us in the first place? In a situation of prolonged isolation, do we always need to be exposed to effective learning? There are more practical courses offered, perhaps less entertaining, with concrete lessons and efficient tracking tools. Whether a product like MasterClass works or not will depend entirely on what the learner or viewer is seeking.

If what you want is a specific program that helps you master an area of study or discipline, a MasterClass may not be the best option for you. However, if you want to have a one-on-one experience with an expert whom you admire and want to know more about how he or she exercises their crafts, then acquiring a course of this profile might serve this purpose perfectly.

Have you taken a MasterClass or any other course on a platform that advertises courses taught by experts who have become famous in their disciplines? Tell us how you felt about the experience in the comments.

The Anatomy of Alvin Kamara – Sports Illustrated

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara returned to the Saints this offseason better than ever. The three-time Pro Bowler dedicated himself to nurturing and healing the knee and ankle injuries that suppressed his production in 2019. The Saints and Kamara are amid contract negotiations to extend him in a Saints uniform for several more years. We take a look at the physical and spiritual anatomy of Alvin Kamara and why he is a dynamic and important player for the New Orleans Saints.KAMARA IN 2019

Kamara admitted what many speculated:

Jacksonville week, I tore my knee, basically, Kamara said. That was something I was dealing with the entire season. (I) Had to miss some time, which I dont like to do."

Alvin knew he was not 100% last season, but he fought through the remaining games. His physical decline was evident as his explosive nature just was not present on the field last year. Kamaraadmitted his injury led to an unapproachable demeanor on the field.

Body language, obviously not being able to move my leg. Sometimes my body language was terrible and I know it, Kamara said. Its one thing for fans to say it, but its another when my teammates, my teammates, thats all Im really concerned about. They knew what I was going through and its like, OK, I know youre hurting, but come on. So Im like, I have to snap back.

On Twitter, Kamara admitted he played on one leg last season of only 75%. As a competitor, Kamara decided he would take the field and even play through an injury to help his team and teammates. SNN's Kyle T. Mosley provided a snapshot of AKs stats for 2019 despite his injury:

Even in the wake of his torn MCL injury against Jacksonville in Week 6, Kamaras production makes these stats even more impressive. 2019, he amassed 1,330 yards and 6 TDs for the Saints. Kamaras first three seasons are historic. He became the first NFL player to have over 2,000 (2,408) rushing and 2,000 (2,068) receiving yards, and 3 Pro-Bowl appearances. In 45 games, Kamara saw the end-zone 38 times, 7 rushing, 10 receiving, and 1 kickoff return. He missed 2 games after his leg injury.

The injury did not require surgery, but plenty of rehabilitation.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is always striving to improve, which has made him a beloved staple in New Orleans and on the team. Hes had a stellar start to his NFL career with the Saints. Kamara and former Saints running back Mark Ingram enlisted the services ofDr. Sharif "Dr. Reef" Tabbah of Athletix Rehab & Recovery to help them with strength and conditioning.

When you are a unique athlete like Alvin Kamara, you must be creative in training and rehabilitation. His recovery and rehab were designed to strengthen balance and muscle, build up endurance, and improve speed. Kyle Mosley and Bob Rose spoke with Kamaras trainer, Dr. Reef, in May on The Bayou Blitz broadcast. Tabbah's goal was to help Kamara increase his core stability.

Tabbahs goal was to help him increase his core stability while taking defensive players hits on the field. Dr. Reef said there are different joints that have to withstand multi-direction forces that might be unpredictable. Can you imagine creating stability from the trunk up, to stay stable on top because youre using a lot of that core stabilization." (Bayou Blitz Podcast)

Kamaras offseason work with Dr. Reef continues to be a hot topic of conversation for many. Their videos feature many unique challenges, where Kamara must catch batons while balancing on a medicine ball. He must also haul a pair of kettlebells tied to a barbell taking staggering steps the length of a basketball court.

This workout aimed to strengthen his core muscles, which are the foundation of the running backs ability to maintain balance through contact, hits, and tackling. The shifting served as lateral stressors to his body, causing his muscle to put in extra effort to keep steady.

These unique and unusual techniques seem to replace the norm for Kamara as the coronavirus pandemic continues to plaque the NFL and other professional leagues around the nation.

Sean Payton was one of the first NFL coaches to use the Joker position - a multidimensional back who can line up on any part of the field and create mismatches in the opponent's defense. Reggie Bush and Darren Sproles were highly effective in this role. After Kamara displayed his athleticism at the NFL combine, the Saints had a private workout with Kamara. He impressed Payton with his route-running and receiving abilities during the workout. Payton coveted Kamara, and the team landed him in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Kamara has since proven to be the ideal fit for New Orleans as a hybrid player with the size, speed, strength, and endless versatility. Alvin can be a running back, slot receiver, pass blocker, run blocker, and decoy in just one offensive series. Defensive coordinators are aware of the threat Alvin Kamara poses each time he in on the playing field.

Kamara points out that the Saints allow me to be me. His look, style, personality, and vibe all embody the spirit of New Orleans. The Saints and AK fans now wear gold teeth grilles to the Mercedes Benz Superdome, fake dreadlocks, and bull nose rings in their nose. Kamara says his ability to be organic and authentic in the city of New Orleans is critical in his success. The energy is right, the perfect fit of franchise, city, and player.

The anatomy of Alvin Kamara is not about his physique; but his talent, energy, passion, and fit for this franchise. He is an outstanding player and an essential figure for the New Orleans Saints' success today and in seasons to come.

Will ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 Include the 4 Episodes That Weren’t Filmed? – TV Insider

Like other shows, plans have had to change and not just when it comes to a premiere date forGrey's Anatomy's 17th season.

"We are not working to protect stories we had [planned] for the end of Season 16," showrunner Krista Vernoff revealed toTVLine. "That said, you will get to see some of the immediate moments from where we left off." In fact, some of what we'll see was filmed prior to the shutdown, she added, and "we found a way to build it into our premiere."

Season 16 ended four episodes early (after production shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic), and the new season is set to pick up about a month and a half into the pandemic, according to Giacomo Gianniotti (who plays Dr. Andrew DeLuca). As the ABC medical drama incorporates real life into its fictional world, it won't forget about the loose endsafter "Put on a Happy Face."

(ABC/Kelsey McNeal)

That means that while the hospital's staff will be "navigating Covid," which Vernoff described as "a whole new world" for everyone, we'll likely see those scenes she mentioned in the premiere as part of the flashbacks Gianniotti had teased we could see.

Grey's Anatomy could begin filming Season 17 as early as this week. While ABC had included it in its initial fall schedule, it was not part of its premiere dates announcement in August. (Instead, game showsCelebrity Family Feud andPress Your Luckare in the time slots forStation 19 andGrey's.)"With our scripted series ramping up production, we look forward to announcing more premiere dates very soon," Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment, said at the time. We should know more soon, hopefully.

Anatomy of Deceit: Team Trump Deploys Doctors with Dubious Qualifications to Push Fake Cure for Covid-19 – The Washington Spectator

On July 27, a dozen physicians posed in front of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., dressed in white lab coats with Americas Frontline Doctors stitched over the pocket. The groups chief spokesperson was Dr. Simone Gold, an emergency physician from Los Angeles. They were introduced by Jenny Beth Martin, the founding CEO of Tea Party Patriots, as participants in the White Coat Summit. The doctors made spirited arguments for the use of hydroxychloroquine as a cure for Covid-19 and against wearing masks and imposing lockdownsall running counter to the recommendations of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.[1]

Although the event was billed as a press conference, few journalists attended. A video posted by a bystander showed only a handful of attendees, most of them dressed in tourists shorts and T-shirts. But the event was livestreamed by Breitbart News and quickly went (so to speak) viral.

There was a rapid backlash. Much of the media attention focused on Dr. Stella Immanuel, one of Golds cohort. Following the press conference, the Daily Beast posted a video of Immanuel, who is also a Pentecostal preacher, delivering a sermon claiming that various female ailments were caused by sexual visitations from demons.

Immanuel has since disappeared from the Americas Frontline Doctors online roster, but the group has continued to get traction. On August 10, Pat Robertsons show on the Christian Broadcasting Network carried an interview with Simone Gold and an endorsement of her hydroxychloroquine cure. On August 21, Alex Joness NewsWars carried an interview with another member of Americas Frontline Doctors, Mark McDonald. McDonalda child psychiatristmaintained, If all Americans had access to hydroxychloroquine, the pandemic would essentially end in about 30 days.

Science has shown otherwise. Despite early hopes last spring, there is mounting evidence that hydroxychloroquine is a problematicand even dangeroustreatment for Covid-19. One expert with firsthand knowledge is Nick Sawyer, an academic emergency physician in Sacramento, Calif. In July he wrote an article for Lifeline, the publication of the California chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, describing his harrowing two weeks of service in the Covid wards of Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. Sawyer was part of a team of California doctors dispatched by Governor Gavin Newsome to offer emergency assistance at the epicenter of the epidemic, at the height of the New York City outbreak.

Sawyer is now dealing with the spike in cases in California, this time with the benefit of four months of additional Covid research. The science on the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating Covid-19 is settledmultiple high-quality studies have shown that it shows no benefit, he notes. Far more concerning, Sawyer says, is its potential harm: Hydroxychloroquine can cause unstable cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death. Over recent months, the Food and Drug Administration, the American Medical Association, and other organizations have issued warnings that the drug should be withdrawn as a Covid-19 treatment. Its irresponsible for Americas Frontline Doctors to continue to push this medication on the unwitting American population, Sawyer states.

Why, then, would Golds band of physicians continue its campaign to pitch the treatment to the public? Simone Gold has repeatedly described her group as a grassroots organization acting in the service of its patients.[2] In fact, it has been a highly orchestrated effort, months in the making, assembled by conservative Washington insiders in direct consultation with the White House, with the goal of reopening the economy in time to benefit Trumps reelection prospectsregardless of the toll in human lives.

The first public mention of the initiative may have been a Washington Post story on April 13, as the virus raged across New York City and Covid-19 deaths passed the 20,000 mark.[3] The Post reported the creation of a new conservative coalition pushing for the White House and GOP lawmakers to push back against health professionals who have urged more caution. The leadership was listed as Stephen Moore of the Heritage Foundation, Adam Brandon of FreedomWorks, and Lisa Nelson of the American Legislative Exchange Council. A fourth individual, Jenny Beth Martin, is the founding director of the Tea Party Patriots. She would play a key role in organizing the events to come, including the doctors Washington summit in July.

Brandon, Nelson, and Martin are all prominent members of a secretive organization called the Council for National Policy, a shadowy coalition that coordinates initiatives among conservative megadonors, political operatives, and media owners, many of them Christian fundamentalists (see Holding Democracy Hostage).

The Post story quoted an interview with Richard Viguerie, a co-founder of the CNP, on the mission of the initiative: The sooner we get the economy going and back up, the better its going to be for conservatives and Republicans in this election year....Conservatives feel the government has overreacted, and its got to end.[4]

The new coalition, called Save Our Country, officially debuted on April 27, as U.S. Covid deaths approached 55,000.[5] Headed by economist Art Laffer, its maiden press release featured quotes from Brandon, Nelson, and Martin. The long-term consequences of a prolonged societal shutdown outweigh the damage done by the virus itself, Martin stated. We must immediately reopen the economy.[6] Earlier that week, The New York Times reported that the Save Our Country coalitions members were mobilizing their networks for state-level rallies, filing lawsuits, and commissioning polls, all to counter the lockdowns: Nonprofit groups including FreedomWorks and Tea Party Patriots have used their social media accounts and text and email lists to spread the word about protests across the country.[7]

But the state-level protests turned out to be of limited utility, and the group began to look for new avenues. In April, CNP Action, the lobbying arm of the CNP, began a series of weekly conference calls to discuss Covid strategy. On May 11as U.S. Covid deaths reached 74,270[8]one of the calls was intercepted and published by the Center for Media and Democracy and the Associated Press.

Among the participants were CNP President William Walton, CNP member Nancy Schulze,[9] and Mercedes Schlapp, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign. Schulze, the wife of former nine-term Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Dick Schulze, opened the call with a warning that two-thirds of the American people were wary of reopening the economy. But, she added, Doctors are seen by the American peoplethey have a 92 percent trust rate with the American people according to polling....There is a coalition of doctors, doctors coalition, who are extremely pro-Trump, that have been preparing and coming together for the war ahead in the campaign on health care, and these doctors could be activated for this conversation now for reopening.

The one thing the left does give credence to, in that they tend to be motivated by a secular worldview, the one thing that they do appreciate and listen to is science, and we have doctors that have the facts, that lived this themselves, that are in the trenches, that are saying its time to reopen, Schulze continued. Ive been working with them for three years. Theres a coalition of doctors ... including the most respected doctors in this country, that are ready to speak if somebody will just call on them.

Walton told her, We need to not just make the economic argument, we need to make the health argument, and we need doctors to make that argument, not us. And so that would be great if you, if we could tee that up.

Schulze said shed be happy to put him in touch with any and all of these doctors, and I have submitted 27 of these doctors names to the campaign for the doctors coalition that theyre in the process of building.

Mercedes Schlapp asked Schulze if she had spoken with Hannah Castillo, director of coalitions for the Trump campaign. I know theyve been working on building that coalition. I know theyre going through the vetting process right now. As long as you have the names, that would be helpful....Those are the type of guys we want to get out on TV and radio to help push out the message.

Schulze replied, Ive been working with Hannah for over six weeks now, so they already have been vetted. But they need to be put on the screen.[10]

Dr. Simone Gold, a 54-year-old emergency physician from Los Angeles, was ready for her close-up. On April 22, Gold had tweeted a stand-up of herself wearing a white Emergency Dept. coat, in front of Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai hospital emergency room, suggesting that concerns over the virus were inflated. She pointed out that the hospital parking lots are empty, the emergency department volume is down, the patient census is down, and thats really in most of the areas Ive been to.[11]

On May 7, she brought a more explicit anti-lockdown message to a program on the Whiskey Politics show on Salem Radio, part of the massive Salem Media conglomerate owned by two leading members of the Council for National Policy.[12] It was headlined DR. SIMONE GOLD GOES PUBLIC! What the Government WONT Tell Us About COVID-19.

Its not at all clear that overall, that social distancing is going to make a huge impact, Gold said.[13] Were all acting like as though theres a huge medical crisis. Theres a medical issue, we should handle it responsibly, but whats going on in our country now is a terrible legal crisis. Our constitutional rights are being trampled on right and left.[14] Gold later added, Theres always viruses...but Im not sure that its front-page news.[15]

The Guardian reported that over the same period, the Save Our Country coalition spent $50,000 on videos on social media platforms targeting independents and Republicans with the message that Covid-19 mostly hits the elderly to minimize risks for others.[16]

On May 19as U.S. Covid deaths reached 84,640[17]the CNPs doctors coalition (billed as A Doctor A Day) made its debut with an open letter to Donald Trump signed by 500+ doctors (a number that was later revised to over 800). In medical terms, the shutdown was a mass casualty incident, it stated. It is impossible to overstate the short, medium, and long-term harm to peoples health with a continued shutdown. The lead signatory was Dr. Simone Gold.

On June 16with U.S. Covid deaths approaching 110,000[18] and the U.S. economy in freefallthe Save Our Country coalition published an open letter to President Trump and Leader McConnell, urging that the multi-trillions of dollars of federal government debt spending in the wake of the Coronavirus come to a stop.[19]Twelve of the 20 signatories (among them Brandon, Nelson, and Martin) were members of the CNP, including CNP President William Walton and Executive Director Bob McEwen.

The push to reopen the schools became a full-court press. On July 7, Trump assembled a White House meeting on the subject. Jenny Beth Martin spoke as both the CEO of Tea Party Patriots and as a mom.

Mr. President, you were right, and I hope you will trust your instincts, she told Trump. America is not meant to be shut down. And we have to reopen schools this fall. Ive been in touch with almost a thousand doctors from around the country.I helped Dr. Simone Gold spearhead a letter to you signed by 800 physicians and surgeons who talked about the side effects of the lockdowns.Ive done a second letter with over 150 doctors, 240 nurses, 330 educators, 70 national groups, and thousands of parents and concerned Americans who want to see schools reopened.

A video of Martins statement appeared, billed as Mom Gives Unexpected Speech Directly to Trump without naming her or her affiliation. It was posted on various social media platforms, including Glenn Becks YouTube channel, The Blaze (where it clocked over 400,000 views as of August 4).[20]

Dr. Simone Gold was now preparing to join Jenny Beth Martin on center stage. On July 22, Gold warmed up for her appearance on The Charlie Kirk Show, with over 157,000 YouTube subscribers. Kirk, a member of the Council for National Policy, heads a group called Turning Point USA, which recruits right-wing campus activists. (Donald Trump addressed its Youth Action Summit last December, and Donald Trump Jr. is quoted on its website stating, Im convinced that the work by Turning Point USA and Charlie Kirk will win back the future of America.)[21]

The introduction for Kirks show summed up the case Gold and her colleagues would make over the coming weeks: Charlie is joined in studio by board-certified emergency physician Dr. Simon [sic] Gold, who says nearly everything weve been told about the Chinese Coronavirus is a lie. She and Charlie take a deep dive into the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine and why the U.S. government is barring physicians from prescribing the drugendangering potentially 100,000 lives, at least. Charlie also takes on Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, asking if Dr. Gold challenges the effectiveness of wearing masks. Dr. Gold makes a stunning and factual assertion about the death rates and who exactly is to blame for what she believes is one of the biggest lies ever perpetrated against the American people. [22]

Golds stunning assertion was the often-repeated claim that doctors were falsifying death certificates, speculating without foundation that they were inflating Covid-19 cases by 20 to 30 percent.[23] Gold also asserted, Masks are really foolish, they dont do anything....Theres zero scientific justification for the mask.[24]

Jenny Beth Martin emphasized a social media campaign from the start. Her Tea Party Patriots website posted the program of the White Coat Summit, offering the participating doctors a two-hour session devoted to expanding their social media reach: YouTube and other social media vastly exceed television news as the information source for most Americans. Interviews and Q/A with social media personalities with large followers is the best way to talk to Americans. Doctors who want to answer questions from these modern journalists will have the opportunity.

By the time Jenny Beth Martin hosted Golds White Coat Summit on July 27, U.S. Covid-19 deaths had skyrocketed to over 136,000.[25] The physicians presentation carried a lethal stew of misinformation. Dr. Bob Hamilton, a pediatrician from Santa Monica, assured viewers, Children are not passing [the virus] on to their parents or their teachers. (A few days later, the CDC released a report on a massive transmission event in June at a Georgia summer camp, with a median age of 12.[26])

Dr. Richard Ursoan ophthalmologistpraised hydroxychloroquine as a cure for the virus, but it was not clear that Urso had ever had any significant experience treating Covid-19 patients. Another speaker was Dr. Daniel Erickson, a Bakersfield physician who co-owns an urgent care facility. In April he had been censured by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine for his reckless and untested musings opposing stay-at-home orders and promoting the conspiracy theory about doctors misattributing deaths to Covid-19.[27]

The social media strategy paid off. Gold and her colleagues video, livestreamed on Breitbart News, reportedly reached 185,000 concurrent users.[28] The New York Times Kevin Roose reported that over its six hours on Facebook, it was the second-most-engaged post on the platform, with 14 million views.[29] (The audiences for network news broadcasts, by comparison, range from 9 to 12 million.) A few hours after the presentation, President Trump tweeted the video to his 84.5 million followers. Donald Trump Jr. told his 5.3 million Twitter followers, This video is a much [sic] watch!!! So different from the narrative everyone is running with.[30] Trump redoubled his support at his press conference the following day, stating I think theyre very respected doctors.[31]

But major social media platforms reacted with relative speed. Facebook took the groups video down a few hours after it was posted, and Twitter and YouTube followed suit, all three on the grounds that the video violated their Covid-19 misinformation policies.[32] Twitter took the unusual step of suspending Trump Jr.s account for 12 hours.

Gold had built the original Americas Frontline Doctors website on a SquareSpace platform, but SquareSpace took it down. Gold rebuilt the website (omitting Stella Immanuel of demon sperm renown) and started raising money through PayPal and fundly.com. The doctors program also remained on the Tea Party Patriots site.

There was an additional reaction to the doctors frontline Covid credentials. MedPageToday, a peer-reviewed medical news site, was unable to find evidence that any of Americas Frontline Doctors in Washington had served in frontline emergency rooms during the Covid epidemic.[33] Simone Gold came under additional scrutiny. Her initial Whiskey Politics introduction described her as a frontline doctor in an inner-city emergency room that treated 150 patients a day, but neither her LinkedIn profile nor other available sources listed the emergency room in question. Her personal website (taken down amid the controversy but archived) described her as a Concierge Immediate Needs Physician working in C-Suite Medicine.[34]

On July 29, Cedars-Sinai, the backdrop for Golds Twitter video, issued a disavowal stating, Simone Gold, MD, has not worked with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center or any of its offices or affiliatessince 2015. For three weeks in late 2015, Dr. Gold was employedona per diem basis by Cedars-Sinai Medical Network, a component of Cedars-Sinai. She worked during this brief time in a network urgent careclinic.Dr. Gold is not authorized to represent or speak about any information on behalf of Cedars-Sinai.

The sharecare.com Find a Doctor site stated that Dr. Simone Gold, MD, is a[n] emergency medicine specialist in Los Angeles, CA. and is affiliated with Centinela Hospital Medical Center. But on July 31, Centinela Hospital posted a statement reading: Simone Gold, MD, is not credentialed as part of the Centinela Medical Staff, as she resigned her position here a number of years ago. Dr. Gold was never employed here as we dont employ our physicians.[35]

Also troubling was American Frontline Doctors repeated suggestion that patients should demand hydroxychloroquine from their doctors for Covid-19. The medication has been an important treatment for lupus and other autoimmune diseases, but the publicity around its application to Covid has created an ongoing shortage with devastating consequences.

Much of the mainstream coverage of Americas Frontline Doctors was devoted to Stella Immanuels demon sperm sermon, but alternative platforms were another story.

Simone Gold was reaching a vast new public and was now celebrated as a victim. On July 30, Fox Newss Tucker Carlson interviewed her on his nightly program. The crawl stated, Doctor Censored by Big Tech Has Now Lost Her Job (though that job was never specified)echoing Trumps executive order on Big Tech censorship released the previous day.[36] (Carlsons show is currently the highest-rated program on cable television, with an audience of over 4.3 million.[37])

Glenn Becks multi-platform media operation, The Blaze, covered the story on his radio program and posted the Tucker Carlson video on its website on July 31, with a companion piece repeating her case for hydroxychloroquine.[38] A similar report was posted the same day on CNS News, founded by Council for National Policy Executive Committee member L. Brent Bozell III.[39] (MediaPost recently named CNS News as the countrys fastest-growing conservative website, with more than 8.3 million unique visitors in June and over 1,000 percent gain in year-over-year unique visitors.[40]) Pat Robertsons CBN.com averages over four million unique visitors each month. Add these to Alex Joness August 21 coverageas well as legions of subsidiary platformsand you have a deadly misinformation campaign thats reaching tens of millions of voters, most of them off the radar of the national news media.

Emergency physician Nick Sawyer is disturbed by the implications for medical practitioners. The Americas Frontline Doctors campaign, he says, violates two of the primary principles of medical ethics. Medical ethics has four major principles: beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice. As hydroxychloroquine offers no clinical benefit and may be harmful, it violates the first two tenets. Further, their statements place actual frontline physicians treating patients with Covid-19 in conflict with patients right to autonomy.

Patients have the right to make decisions regarding their medical care, but as more and more patients are askingif not outright demandingthat physicians prescribe hydroxychloroquine to them, it places these physicians in a position where they are faced with an ethical dilemma. We respect patients right to autonomy, but we are not willing to allow them to demand a treatment that is not helpful and may be harmful. In sum, Americas Frontline Doctors are introducing additional havoc into the already complex Covid-19 pandemic.

The day after Golds Washington presentation, U.S. Covid-19 deaths stood at 140,309; they swelled to 147,653 only a week later.[41] Less than a month later, on August 21, Donald Trump addressed the Council for National Policy at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City, his last major address before the Republican convention. In his opening remarks, he thanked several figures from the CNP, including Jenny Beth Martin, for your tremendous leadership of the CNP. Youve done a fantastic job.

As of that Friday, over 174,000 Americans had died of Covid-19. That number continues to climb.[42]

Anatomy of the People’s Manifesto: Out of box solutions to Ghana’s problem – GhanaWeb

Opinions of Tuesday, 8 September 2020

Columnist: Michael Sumaila Nlasia

The Peoples Manifest

Yesterday marked the launch of the much-awaited Peoples Manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The leadership of the Party, the Manifesto Committee and all those who worked behind the scenes to bring to manifestation this extraordinary development policy, by way of the manifesto, deserve our congratulations and commendations.

The current disappointment of Ghanaians in the New Patriotic Party government: with the countless scoundrel of scandals such as Agyapa Royalty and PDS, the failure and collapse of businesses, the massive loss of jobs, the rapid depreciation of the cedi against the major foreign currencies and the crackdown of our national security presented the need to articulate a very comprehensive program to the Ghanaian electorates on how these problems will be solved.

This task caused the Party to set up the Manifesto Committee. The terms of reference of the Committee was structured on a bottom-up approach.

In other words, many of our Party supporters and sympathisers in the constituencies and branches and diverse sources of opinions of the Ghanaian population have some very interesting ideas to many of the issues coming out. They helped by harnessing their knowledge into furnishing the manifesto.

After all, a manifesto must speak to the aspirations of the people, and who better than the rank and file to articulate their ideas to the issues at hand? This is essential because when you go out to talk to the farmers, the fisher folks, nurses, doctors and all and sundry directly, you learn a lot.

And the suggestions they made were found tuned into the manifesto for the electorates to advance our center-left social democratic principle.More so, it shows the humility and the renewal of the leadership of the NDC.

The furore of Gabby Otchere Darko and the NPP that NDC lacks ideas or is not a better alternative has been rendered obsolete and superfluous; as it has rather sensed shivers to their spine knowing very well that the consultation led to clearer and a better understanding of the problems on the ground which the NPP does not want to appreciate as it is what has brought about this winning manifesto.

It is good that the NDC has shown that it is not an alternative by the mere fact that it is in opposition, but has demonstrated it has what it takes to manage and lead this country. It is rare to have a manifesto that reflects the will of the people.

That is why the NPP with its right-wing orientation latches heavily on center-left wing policies and uses semantics as social intervention programmes. But this only shows its bankruptcy in ideas, because it is infamous for its belief in unbridled capitalism and state capturing.

An example in the manifesto is the Youth Development Ministry to be established by the NDC.

This is a dream come true for the teeming Ghanaian youth who, for some reasons or the other, are having their talents frozen by populist ideas which have no potential for growth. A special honour goes to the youth leaders of the Party for spearheading such a remarkable social intervention policy.

The freak of power that made NPP win the 2016 general election has brought unto them contradictions demonstrating in the monumental failure of this government.

Overall this manifesto represents the felt needs of the people and the direction they ought to take for a better future. We must fully accept it to bring to birth a new and a prosperous Ghana.

Greys Anatomy has slowly begun production on season 17 after last season was cut short due to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic.

And while fans had resigned themselves to the fact the final episodes wouldnt make it on the air as the show moves forward with a time jump, it turns out some of the previously filmed material will still make it into the new episodes after all.

Showrunner Kristva Vernoff explained to TVLine: In even the best of times, a television writers primary job is to know how to pivot.

We are not working to protect stories we had [planned] for the end of Season 16. That said, youwillget to see some of the immediate moments from where we left off.

She explained why she chose to incorporate some of the scenes from the unfinished episodes as she added: There was great material that we had already shot but did not get a chance to air [so] we found a way to build it into our premiere.

We already know the show is going to focus heavily on the effect Covid-19 had on frontline workers, but theres still going to be a whole lot of love as Ellen Pompeo revealed her favourite new couple in the upcoming season.

Can tell us something about todays table read? a fan tweeted the Meredith Grey actress testing their luck.

Update to Previously Announced SARS-CoV-2 Test Development Initiative With Albany Medical College for the Presence of SARS-CoV-2 Virus – GlobeNewswire

CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 08, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FluroTech Ltd. (TSXV: TEST) (OTCQB: FLURF), (FluroTech or the Company) is pleased to provide an update to its press releases dated April 16 and 20, 2020 in respect of FluroTest LLC (FluroTest), formed through a strategic agreement with the Company, Alberta BioPhotonics Inc. (ABP) and Albany Medical College (AMC) today confirmed successful function of its novel and proprietary low-cost, real-time, point-of-care saliva-based immunoassay for detecting active SARS-CoV-2 infections.

The science behind the FluroTest virus direct detection method is based on a vertical flow immunoassay configuration which utilizes fluorescence spectroscopy to quantitatively determine SARS-CoV-2 viral load in salivary samples. Prototype testing was conducted at Albany Medical Colleges immunology laboratories in Albany, New York supported by FluroTechs Calgary Laboratory.

FluroTest intends to immediately begin the process of seeking Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) status from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to commercialize its pandemic platform solution. FluroTest will better understand the costs, time requirements, and next steps for commercialization once the FDA provides further guidance.

The FluroTest solution is a saliva-based, point of collection diagnostic immunoassay designed for accurate, digitally verifiable results, delivered with high throughput capacity, which are transmitted to a secure, managed, cloud environment compliant with thestandards for privacy of individually identifiable health information as promulgated in theU.S. Health Insurance Portability and AccountabilityAct of 1996 (HIPAA).

By combining and leveraging the disciplines of robotics automation, biochemistry (antibody labeling and binding), fluorescence detection and cloud computing, FluroTest believes that it is creating the first pandemic defense platform of its kind. FluroTest anticipates a single platform installation could serve over 3,000 test takers per hour with digitally verifiable results transmitted to a secure, managed, HIPAA compliant cloud environment and immediately available to the test takers mobile device within 5 minutes. The platform is intended to make it possible to test up to 100% of a specific community population every 4 to 7 days at a low cost to the test taker and high value to the communities served by the platform.

FluroTest believes that its pandemic defense platform can benefit organizations serving large, concentrated populations and bearing significant pandemic risk, forcing them to incur consequential business disruptions and closures. Examples include, but are not limited to: colleges and universities, hospitals & large healthcare complexes, athletic stadiums & large performance venues, corporate campus environments, large office buildings & complexes, shopping malls and centers, retail working warehouses, factories, food processing plants, airlines, as well as any public transportation hub such as subway entrances and airport terminals.

FluroTest believes its technology can also be adapted to allow for the detection of specific anti-SARS-CoV-2 human antibodies, potentially confirming the development of immunity.

Readers are cautioned that, although FluroTest has achieved proof of concept prototype, the testing method and device is still in the early stages of research and development and accordingly FluroTest is not currently making any express or implied claims that the technology can, or will be able to, accurately detect the COVID-19 virus. In addition, FluroTest requires additional capital in the near-term to further the development and deployment of its testing device and will be seeking equity investors and is exploring strategic partnerships in connection with the same.

The Team

FluroTests technology development efforts require unique expertise in spectroscopy and fluorescence as well as immunology and virology. This initiative is a collaborative effort between U.S. and Canadian scientists with deep experience in their respective fields.

For immunology and virology expertise, FluroTest has partnered with Albany Medical Colleges immunology and microbial disease department. AMC is located in the State of New York. The Departments research team is led by Dennis Metzger, Ph.D., professor and chair of the department, along with assistant professor Kouacou Konan, Ph.D., who is working with FluroTech to develop the technology. Dr. Konans research program concentrates on virus detection and the mechanisms responsible for viral disease pathogenesis. The program is supported by a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory that allows for the use of highly virulent pathogens and is one of the few such facilities in the state of New York. Dr. Konan has obtained approval for COVID-19 work in his Biosafety Level-3 laboratory. As part of Albany Medical Center, the only academic medical center and Level 1 Trauma Center serving northeastern New York and western New England,Albany Medical College is in a unique position to begin large scale sample collection and clinical trials which will assist in obtaining regulatory/FDA approvals. My colleagues and I look forward to continuing our collaboration on antibodies with the science team of FluroTech led by Dr. Mauricio Arias and on fluorescence spectroscopy with Dr. Elmar Prenner from the University of Calgary, noted Dr. Konan. This initiative enriches our mission of patient care, research and educationthree critical factors to address this difficult viral problem for the people we serve.

FluroTech has a long-standing collaboration on fluorescence spectroscopy with Dr. Elmar Prenner. Dr. Prenner is the original developer of the core technology which is owned by Alberta BioPhotonics. The lockdown may be over, but the pandemic is not – Varsity

During the university lockdown caused by the pandemic, an initiative to promote the spread of pertinent information regarding COVID-19 was started by immunology students at UTSG. Graduate students in the Department of Immunology created educational pamphlets on important topics regarding COVID-19, including disease pathogenesis, current therapies, and the process of vaccine development.

As a current student in the Master of Science in Applied Immunology program, I was motivated to get involved and helped contribute to the creation of the vaccine development infosheet. The rationale behind this initiative was to generate scientifically accurate pamphlets that members of the general public can easily access in order to educate themselves and mitigate the spread of misleading information.

Remaining vigilant, maintaining hope

As of late July, Ontario had entered Stage 3, allowing businesses and services to reopen to promote the long-term restart and recovery of the economy. Although this provides a return to normalcy, it certainly does not mean the pandemic is over. Therefore, the information contained in the pamphlets continues to be valuable.

Despite the restrictions easing, this is a time to be more cautious, not more lenient. Currently, progress toward developing a safe and effective vaccine is still ongoing. It is imperative that the public remains vigilant in performing safety precautions to ensure their well-being and that of others.

It may be perceived that this gradual reopening signifies that the pandemic is no longer a threat of the same magnitude as it was earlier in the year, but COVID-19 is still very much a public health risk. This is reflected in the number of reported cases. According to Public Health Ontario there were more than 850 new cases in Ontario in the last week of August. Outbreaks are still occurring.

After the August long weekend, there was an outbreak at the Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka due to individuals reportedly not following physical distancing and social bubble guidelines. The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit had entered Stage 3 a month earlier on July 17.

However, remaining cautious does not mean we should not be hopeful. Clinical trials are underway to generate a safe and efficacious vaccine, but it is important to acknowledge that this process takes time. Vaccine development occurs in several stages, including research of the virus, pre-clinical experimentation in animal models, and human clinical trial phases that test the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.

The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University recently tested a vaccine candidate called ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, which has demonstrated safety in humans and an ability to generate neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19. ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 is undergoing phase three of clinical trials.

The information problem

During the 2016 outbreak of the Zika virus, a study found an increased usage of Twitter, Google search engine, Google News, YouTube, and Wikipedia pages to acquire Zika-related content. Although social media platforms and search engines allow for the spread of information in a timely manner, they can also be harmful due to the amount of false information being spread by unqualified users.

This is problematic as accurate information is often drowned out by misleading information. Additionally, certain users might see this information and be confused as to what is factual and what is not.

During the early stages of COVID-19, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus referred to the spread of false and misleading COVID-19 information as an infodemic. He expressed that, like a virus, false information spreads rapidly and should be considered dangerous. Therefore, controlling the spread of misinformation on social media and online platforms is vital to ensure the public is receiving accurate knowledge.

It is understandably hard for platforms to manage information due to the number of social media users. Thus, the responsibility is put heavily on the internet user to ensure that they are accessing credible sources to acquire information. Accessibility to accurate information can be promoted by providing easy-to-read online documents and interesting graphics created by the government, academic institutions, and scientists.

Although vaccine development is underway, it is still important that we follow public health guidelines, stay informed via accurate sources, and take preventive measures to avoid a potential second wave of the virus.

IcanoMAB GmbH Founded with Private Funding to Develop Precision Canonical Monoclonal Antibodies in Oncology, Immune-Modulation, Acute Inflammation and…

POLLING, Germany, September 07, 2020 /B3C newswire/ --IcanoMAB, a privately-funded biotech company focusing on the pre-clinical and clinical development of novel precision canonical antibodies for the treatment of cancer, immune-system related diseases and Covid-19, today announced, that it has been successfully founded and funded. The company has secured three clinical candidates in IND-enabling stage and funding from MAB Discovery GmbH, originally generating the licensed antibodies from a novel antibody discovery platform. After 10 years of more than 50 successful monoclonal antibody discovery projects with large Pharma and mid- and large-size Biotech companies, MAB Discovery sold its antibody production platform and laboratory to BioNTech (NASDAQ: BNTX) in 2019. At the end of 2019, a pre-clinical project in the field of Immuno-oncology was licensed to a Top Pharma company.IcanoMAB will use the proceeds to advance the clinical candidates to allow IND-enabling activities and respective partnering activities with selected third parties.

Particularly urgent are effective treatments for Covid-19 and its potentially fatal outcome driven by Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS). While Vaccine development is progressing and sufficient broad population protection yet to be demonstrated, risks of detrimental effects via Antibody Dependent Enhancement (ADE) will require specific therapeutic intervention. In any case, an effective treatment is urgently needed as an option for clinicians to treat severely affected late-stage Covid-19 patients.Significant improvement of clinical outcome is also required for treatment of acute inflammatory conditions including several severe rare diseases like Macrophage-Activation Syndrome, SJIA / Stills Disease or IBD and Gout where sometimes even specific treatments are missing, addressing the underlying cause. The same holds true for clinical outcome in cancer therapy, whether it is the treatment of women with early Breast Cancer and especially through neo-adjuvant treatment, or via novel immuno-oncology treatments across multiple solid cancers.

While monoclonal antibody discovery has progressed significantly in the last decades, precise canonical antibodies have not been well exploited to address clinically validated and/or clinical targets in a physiological manner. The technology of MAB Discovery was developed to generate an unlimited number of diverse antibody-producing B-cells (>10,000) with optimal variability without additional in vitro maturation or engineering to optimize therapeutically relevant paratopes. Resulting antibodies have been applied to Pharma-derived high throughput screening in functional assays to identify lead candidates that fulfill a predefined list of biological activities and provide optimal potency essential for differential therapeutic application. Potential leads have gone through a sophisticated sequence optimization: Humanization, elimination of T-cell epitopes & potential CMC liabilities. Addressing validated targets generated proprietary molecules with novel modes of intervention and the knowledge of first-generation molecules enabled a well guided in vitro differentiation. This approach allows focused activities for in-vivo PoC in animal models and in the clinic with limited remaining CMC risks.

Addressing those needs, IcanoMAB's clinical lead candidates have been developed to date and are in collaborations with leading experts and renowned organizations across the world like
