Ellen Pompeo Is Drawing Major Attention With Her Daughter’s Rare Instagram Appearance – Good Housekeeping

Throughout her time working on Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo seldom shared moments of her life with husband Chris Ivery and their three kids: Stella Luna, 13, Sienna May, 8 and Eli Christopher, 6. But she recently offered a glimpse when she took one of her children to a Hollywood event.

Ahead of the actress' final moments as a series regular, she attended the Michael Kors show during New York Fashion Week. While fans didn't expect to see Ellen walking the red carpet at NYFW, she didn't make the appearance on her own. The actress brought along her younger daughter Sienna, who held her mother's hand while posing in an all-black attire.

As for Ellen, she wore an all-tan ensemble comprised of a fringed turtleneck dress, which featured a tied buckle belt. What pulled the look together with a matching long-sleeved trench coat and a pair of stiletto heels that kept with the monochromatic theme.

When photos of the mother-daughter duo out in New York City started circulating on the internet, Grey's Anatomy fans couldn't believe how grown up the eight year old looked. It didn't take long before they started to comment about the moment.

"Shes growing [up] fast!" one person wrote on Instagram. "," another added. "Just lovely!" a different user complimented.

This is just one way Ellen is making time for family outside of work. She spoke out about this concept back in December 2022, when she shared her reasons for leaving Grey's Anatomy after season 19 on The Drew Barrymore Show.

"I have a lot that I'm doing," she said at the time. "I have three kids and so I take care of them. It's really important for me to be around for them and be more present for them."

Titled "I'll Follow the Sun," the official press release read: "On Merediths last day at Grey Sloan, the doctors plan a goodbye surprise and Nick confronts her about the future of their relationship."

Meredith Grey’s Most Tragic ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Moments, Ranked – Vulture

Photo-Illustration: Vulture. Photos: ABC

Greys Anatomy has seen many shake-ups over its 19 seasons but none as big as the one thats due on February 23, when star Ellen Pompeo will make (whats being billed as) her final appearance as Meredith Grey. The actors exit isnt exactly a surprise: Pompeo has hinted for years that she was considering opting out, and Greys spent the first half of this season laying the groundwork for her departure (the ongoing romance with Nick, Zolas worsening anxiety, the apparent appeal of Bostons slightly less rainy weather, etc.). Still, for fans who have stuck around for every bit of Merediths winding, tragedy-filled journey from rosy-cheeked intern to the seasoned doctor of today, its a gut punch of a loss.

And oh, those tragedies! No character on network TV has endured as much trauma, disaster, and plain bad luck as Meredith Grey. In her 40-odd years, this woman has undergone everything from plane crashes to bomb threats and custody battles to a burst appendix. Thats not even mentioning the most recent affront Greys has wrought upon her: the fire that engulfs her beloved Seattle home just as shes about to leave town. (This isnt a show known for its subtlety, okay?)

In honor of Merediths upcoming exit, weve ranked all of the many, many tragedies that have befallen her over the course of Greys, from the fairly mundane to the truly jaw-dropping. Because while the show may not always be kind to its titular heroine, it has always known how to keep viewers hooked for more.

Lets start with one that was kind of Merediths fault. Back in Season 15, she casually commits some insurance fraud in order to help a dad and daughter who are seeking asylum. As punishment, she is sentenced to community service, but when she skips out on that one too many times, shes sentenced to jail where she spends a grand total of a few days, or so it seemed by the speed in which Greys ended that story line. Although one may assume that having to leave her kids and go to jail (even for a short period) would be traumatizing for Meredith, she doesnt seem to mind the situation so much, making a friend during her stay and coming out none the worse.

In the grand scheme of Bad Things That Have Happened to Meredith Grey, a burst appendix and the resulting emergency surgery are barely contenders. Still, theyre just one more crappy, painful thing for our protagonist to have endured even if they do lead to her choosing Derek over hot vet Finn.

Another hardship mostly of Merediths own making, this one is especially silly because it gets worked out so quickly. In the midst of trying to adopt Zola with Derek, Meredith is fired from the hospital (not for the last time!) because she tampered with the Alzheimers trial. Naturally, when Zolas social worker finds out Meredith was fired and lied about living with Derek, she takes the baby away. Soon enough, though, Zola is returned to their custody, and Meredith and Derek try to move forward as one big happy family.

Meredith has faced a lot of death in her lifetime, so while the sudden demise of ones stepmother (of hiccups, of all things!) would be horrible for most people, it is simply a sad, if fairly run-of-the-mill, experience for her. What probably hurts worse for Meredith than the poor womans actual death is when her shell-shocked dad slaps her in front of Derek and blames her for what happened. Yeesh.

No, Cristina didnt die, and yes, theyre still in touch (even if we see only Merediths side of the FaceTime calls because Sandra Oh is too busy wracking up Emmy noms or whatever). Even so, the physical loss of Merediths person was devastating, both to the character and to fans who had grown protective over the bond between Seattles darkest and twistiest sisters.

Look, Thatcher wasnt exactly the worlds best dad. He drank too much, was emotionally abusive, and dipped out of Merediths life for a good 20 years to be with his other family. He even had the nerve to use her as a liver donor when he needed a transplant! But he was family, of which Meredith has little, and his death was upsetting simply because he and Meredith deserved more time to rebuild their relationship.

Let me be clear: Andrew DeLucas murder isnt low on this list because it isnt tragic. Its low because, despite Meredith having a long-term relationship with this man, she gets over his death real fast. Sure, shes sad for a bit, but barely an episode later she is plotting her course as residency director and tackling a cure for Parkinsons! Guess those feelings werent that deep.

Now were getting to the real trauma. Long before Greys viewers met Meredith, she had survived multiple hardships on her own, including watching her mother slit her wrists in front of her when she was a kid. The sad thing is, this wasnt even the worst thing Ellis did to Meredith over the years more on that in a bit.

In the mid-season-19 finale last November, Meredith comes home to discover that her house has been struck by lightning and is on fire. We have yet to see the results, but from the looks of it, things aint good. Sure, Meredith can easily afford a new place, but the loss of the house is a real bummer. After all, it was Elliss house originally, and over the course of the show, it has played home to an endless array of friends, lovers, pets, and strays, Merediths affectionate name for outsiders in need of a short-term reprieve. Cristina and Owens wedding happened there! April and Jacksons baby was born there! R.I.P., house. We will miss you.

And you thought your childbirth story was rough: After falling down the stairs in the midst of a superstorm (because of course), Meredith goes into labor early and requires a C-section only to have the hospital lights totally go out. The procedure goes well enough until Meredith realizes shes internally bleeding and needs a second emergency surgery, but thankfully, both Mom and baby end up totally okay. She even names the baby after Bailey, who operated on her! Very dark yet sweet classic Greys.

And the worlds worst parent award goes to Ellis Grey! Truly, this horrible woman is responsible for like 75 percent of the emotional trauma Meredith has experienced. After scarring her daughter for life with that suicide attempt, Ellis continues her reign of terror by pushing her to extremes, bashing her intelligence and skills, and never, ever being pleased with a single thing Meredith does. Still, Mer had majorly complicated feelings about her mom, and when Ellis eventually dies owing to a medical complication, its devastating for Meredith, even if her passing is, on some level, a relief.

Oh, the bomb threat. One of Greys most iconic episodes, the two-part, postSuper Bowl season-two event sees a clearly death-courting Meredith put her hand inside a patient with a live, unexploded bomb in his body. But that isnt even the worst of it! When the bomb squad finally gets Meredith out safely, the device explodes, killing Kyle Chandler right in front of her eyes. Truly, no one should have to see that.

Few Greys Anatomy deaths have hit as hard as Georges, and surprise, surprise, Meredith takes the brunt of the onscreen pain. Shes the one who discovers that the severely burned patient trying to write in her palm is 007, a.k.a. George, and watching her come to that heartbreaking realization especially knowing how injured he is and how little chance he has to survive was truly rough to watch.Even for the permanently grief-stricken doctor, losing one of her best friends takes a deep emotional toll.

Considering how often Greys pulls stories from the headlines, it made sense that the show would feature at least one character dealing with a serious case of COVID-19. But did it have to be Meredith, who suffered so much already?! Girl not only contracts the disease but gets a case so bad that she ends up on a freakin ventilator for months and nearly dies. The only good part is that she at least isnt in pain during the worst of it, just frolicking around on the beach with all her dead friends and husband.

This one just felt so unnecessary. A patient suffering from post-seizure hyperaggression attacks Meredith as she tries to help him, throwing her across the room and hurting her so badly that her jaw gets displaced. It takes weeks for her to fully recover, and thats only from the physical injuries who knew how deep the fear and anger went?

In one of Greys first major traumas, Meredith nearly drowns after a patient pushes her into the water during a ferryboat accident. Derek is able to rescue her, but she suffered severe hypothermia and almost dies. If that werent serious enough, it turns out she basically let herself drown because she didnt know if she wanted to continue living. A double whammy of a tragedy, though it did make for highly captivating TV.

Just another normal day on Greys Anatomy, folks. During season sixs iconic shooter-in-the-hospital finale, Derek gets shot. In an attempt to stop the gunman from finishing the job by fooling him into thinking theyve stopped operating on Derek, Cristina and Jackson make it look as if Derek has died. Alas, Meredith is fooled too and is so shocked and heartbroken that she has a miscarriage. Even more horrifying? She cant take any time to mourn or heal, as she has to operate on an also-injured Owen to keep him alive.

As much as Greys fans enjoy making fun of the shows plane-crash episodes for their utter ridiculousness (see those forever-funny Cristina I lost a shoe! memes), they are actually extremely dire. Lest you forget, Meredith and five of her fellow docs are stranded in the woods after their plane nosedives, many of them seriously injured and with no help in sight. One of those badly hurt is Mers sister, Lexie, who is crushed under plane parts and eventually succumbs to her wounds. Although Meredith herself walks away with just minor injuries, the combination of experiencing the terrifying crash and losing her sister one of her only remaining relatives is nearly too much for her to bear. Even after the doctors are rescued, the emotional toll of the crash and Lexies death weigh heavily on all of them, and not until weeks later does Meredith seem to fully process the horrific extent of what happened.

As much tragedy and disaster as Meredith experiences over her lifetime, nothing takes as big a toll as the untimely death of her beloved husband, Derek especially considering how frustratingly preventable his death was, with that damn Penny refusing to order a head CT even though he seemed to be suffering neurological damage after a gnarly run-in with a car. Because of this terrible mistake, Derek passes, widowing Meredith and leaving their three kids without a father. In the years afterward, Meredith deals with her grief and rebuilds her life (and eventually finds love again), but even today, Dereks loss still hangs over it all.

Will a move to Boston and life with Nick help heal the wound? Fingers crossed, but we may never know unless Pompeo finds her way back to Greys down the line for a cameo or a much-buzzed guest appearance. But if we know Meredith, any return to the show will just mean well have to update this list with yet another tragedy that befalls the worlds unluckiest doctor.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Meredith Grey’s best and worst moments – Insider

Meredith Grey had many highs and lows throughout 19 seasons of "Grey's Anatomy." ABC/Netflix

During a major storyline in season 15, Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) committed insurance fraud for a patient named Gabriella Rivera, whose father, Luis, applied for state health insurance and was denied.

Meredith put her daughter Ellis's name on Gabby's forms so that her health insurance would be charged. Gabby had come to Grey Sloan with abdominal pain that was later discovered to be cancer.

When Meredith eventually confessed, she had to face the medical board, putting her medical license at risk in court. But her colleagues and some of her former patients returned to defend her character, and she was able to retain her license.

She went on to publish an article about the flaws within the US healthcare system, a topic rarely explored on TV.

Meredith's actions, while flawed, were undeniably badass.

In "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 episode 11, "All I Could Do Was Cry," Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) were preparing for the birth of their baby Samuel, who they knew was going to die of osteogenesis imperfecta after he was born.

While other doctors in the episode at least lit a candle for the family before going about their day, Meredith was too busy trying to find a babysitter for her kids so she could visit Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and have sex. She seriously went around the hospital begging colleagues to do her a favor so she could have sex while her coworkers were preparing for their newborn to die.

What's worse, in the next episode, viewers learned she didn't even end up going to Washington, D.C. to visit Derek. Instead, she got a hotel room in Seattle and had some time to herself.

Meredith wasn't actually very close to April or Jackson, but this is still one of the crassest moments she's had throughout 19 seasons of "Grey's."

Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) was diagnosed with cancer in season five. To keep her mind off the disease, Meredith and Derek involved her in helping to plan their wedding

When Izzie learned she had a new tumor, Meredith and Derek decided to give Izzie and her boyfriend, Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), their wedding, since she was the only person really excited about it anyway. Meredith and Derek eventually exchanged vows on a Post-it note.

Meredith's actions were a bit self-serving, but giving Izzie her wedding day was one of the most significant gestures of friendship Meredith ever made to someone other than Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh).

In the season six finale, hospital shooter Gary Clark (Michael O'Neil) came into the OR where Cristina was performing surgery on Derek to save Derek's life after Gary had shot him. He threatened to shoot the team of doctors trying to save Derek's life.

When Meredith saw what Gary was doing from the OR's scrub room, she walked in and told Gary to shoot her instead of anyone else, putting herself between the gun and her colleagues.

Her actions seem heroic on the surface. But she exacerbated the danger for everyone else in the operating room by encouraging Gary to shoot. When Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) lunged for the gun, Gary shot him in the shoulder.

Meredith was pregnant at the time, and the stress of the situation was the catalyst for her miscarriage.

Meredith has made many brave decisions in "Grey's Anatomy." But arguably none was braver than her choice in season two, episode 17, "As We Know It."

She saved countless lives when she put her hand in a patient's chest cavity to prevent a homemade explosive from going off. She had almost no choice in the moment; a scared paramedic named Hannah (Christina Ricci) had taken her hand out and fled the scene. If Meredith didn't act, there was no telling how much carnage there could've been.

Risks are called risks for a reason we never know if they'll go well or have devastating consequences. This risk was Meredith's most iconic.

Early in season eight, Meredith and Derek were in the process of adopting Zola. But they were also estranged because Derek was mad at Meredith for tampering with a clinical trial. Meredith had been fired from Seattle Grace-Mercy West for her actions.

She feared that her unstable marriage and the fact that she was unemployed would stop Zola's adoption from becoming official. But instead of being honest, when a social worker came to the hospital to check in, Meredith took Zola and ran. She only hid with the baby in the hospital, but dumb isn't a strong enough word to describe her actions.

Ultimately, Meredith's choice resulted in Zola being removed from Meredith and Derek's custody. They were investigated, and Zola eventually came home.

Meredith's actions proved that a mother's first instinct isn't always what's best for a child. Her intentions weren't to harm anyone, but running through the halls of the hospital with Zola in her arms was still Meredith's most shameful moment.

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

The anatomy of India’s heartbreak – ESPNcricinfo

History will remember that they fell short by five runs in the semi-final but it was much, much more than that

Firdose Moonda24-Feb-2023

India arrived in South Africa with what seemed like a date with destiny. On the eve of the long-awaited WPL, with more money and interest in the women's game in their country than ever before, they were expected to break Australia's hegemony on the title and announce themselves as a new global powerhouse.

History will remember that they fell short by five runs, but it was much, much more than that. From the start of the tournament, they were under unexpected pressure but every time they were knocked down, they found a way to come back. Until today.

Their captain Harmanpreet Kaur's best effort in the tournament was not enough to take India to a second successive T20 World Cup final as she journeyed on a winding path to an ultimately heartbreaking defeat.

Mid-January, 2023India land in South Africa to play a tri-series against the World Cup hosts and West Indies in preparation for the global tournament. Harmanpreet misses the first match with an injury, then struggles with a shoulder problem and picks up an illness too.

Her team-mate Jemimah Rodrigues expressed her concern: "Harry di, from the time she has come here, she has been falling sick. She has injuries. I have hardly seen her bat in the nets because something or the other was happening to her. Imagine the kind of thing she was going through, mentally."

Despite that, Harmanpreet played every match in the group stage of the World Cup. She didn't score a lot of runs. She only crossed 20 once in four visits to the crease, but there was a sense she was saving her best for when it mattered most: the knockouts.

Sometime on MondayHarmanpreet develops a fever.

"I had to visit the hospital [on Wednesday]," she would reveal later. "We had some paracetamol there because at that time, my body temperature was going up and down. But I think it happens sometimes when the weather changes; in South Africa, sometimes it is very hot and sometimes it is very cold."

Thursday morningNo one in the Indian team knows if their captain is well enough to lead them.

"Honestly, until the team meeting, we didn't even know whether she would play because she just kept it to herself," Rodrigues said. "I had just stepped out of my room and I saw her carrying her own kit bag and I was like, 'Yes, this is it.'

An hour before play, Harmanpreet called her team into a huddle.

"She said to us, 'I am very proud of this team and I am very proud to lead this team'," Rodrigues said.

Around three hours laterRodrigues and Harmanpreet put on a 69-run stand for the fourth wicket and scored at a rate of more than ten runs an over. India were ahead of Australia in the chase but then Rodrigues was caught behind attempting to ramp Darcie Brown, and Harmanpreet's bat got stuck in the ground as she tried to slide it into the crease while trying to complete a second run. After their captain's run-out, India's chase started falling apart.

"A little bit here or there and the ball would have been over the keeper's head. The shot was still on and the intent was there," Rodrigues said of her dismissal. "And Harman was very unfortunate. It was not in our control."

As Harmanpreet walked off, she flung her bat on to the turf.

"It was a disappointment because the way I was batting, maybe that was the only way I could have got out. Otherwise, the way I was hitting the ball, I knew how to take this chase till the end," Harmanpreet said. "From the Australian team's body language, it looked like they had given up. But the moment I got out, the momentum shifted from India to Australia, I personally felt it was a turning point."

But India needed only 40 runs off 32 balls after Harmanpreet's dismissal and there was a sense they could have got there.

"To come out there and the way Harry di played, it speaks so much about her mental strength and determination," Rodrigues said. "She's very passionate about the sport, very passionate about this team and very passionate about winning."

India spent the rest of the innings on the edge of their seats as they watched Deepti Sharma take them as close as she could but the evening ended in tears. At the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet wore sunglasses to hide hers. Later, in the mixed zone, Rodrigues was asked what she wanted to do as soon as she got back to her hotel. "I just want to cry," she said.

She was asked more questions, some about the WPL, others about whether this defeat brought back bad memories that she had hoped to shelve away. Eventually, a wearing Rodrigues told reporters it was "too soon for me to process everything" and she was "not in the headspace right now", but that "every loss hurts". For her, and every member of the squad.

"In the change room now, everyone's disappointed. Nobody's even talking to each other. But at the same time, this is like a learning experience."

In the moments after one of their most painful setbacks, the last thing India wanted was to talk about it publicly, but such is the life of a professional sportsperson. Their every moment must be analysed and dissected - India's fielding is one of the areas that will come under the microscope most starkly - and everything explained even if the players can't quite come up with the explanations themselves.

"I don't know what to say," Rodrigues said. "It's important after such losses to give people space. That is most important. We feel for each other. Today also it was like we will go and give our life out there - that's the kind of bond we have. But it's also good to respect each other. I'm sure everyone's going to vent when they go back to their room but for now, they are just trying to be strong for each other."

By the time you read this, India might have come to terms with their defeat. Harmanpreet may have done what she said she would in the press conference: "accept whatever happened". She may even have moved past the point of puzzlement she found herself in after the game. "I don't understand how this is going on," she said. "I think we played good cricket. That's all I can say."

But there is a silver lining. "This team shows a lot of promise," Rodrigues said. "If you go see it, our average age is around 22 to 24. Imagine two years down the line, and this will be the team that will be dominating the world."

India leave this World Cup wounded but with a young squad and a shiny, new franchise league at their doorstep, they have the ingredients to go all the way next time, and many times after that.

Ellen Pompeo net worth (and 5 fun facts about the Greys Anatomy star) – Netflix Life

After nearly two decades of leading ABCs medical drama, Greys Anatomy, Ellen Pompeos Meridith Grey is scrubbing off and saying goodbye toGrey Sloan Memorial. The actress whos appeared as a series regular since the Shonda Rhimes-created series first launched in 2005 made her second to last appearance on thelongest-running primetime medical drama in history on Feb. 23, in thewinter finale episode titled, Ill Follow the Sun.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, viewers can then expect the actress to make her final (for now) appearance onMay 26, during the Greys Anatomy season 19 finale.

Having starred on the show since its initial launch in 2005, Ellen Pompeo has profited tremendously and earned herself a huge net worth. If youre curious about how much she has in the bank, youre in luck, we have all her net worth details (and more) below.

According to Parade, the majority of the Greys Anatomy alumns net worth is largely thanks to her appearance on the show. Her net worth is staggering, but its frankly unsurprising, given she reportedly earns$550,000 per episode ofGreys Anatomy. So, how much is Ellen Pompeo worth exactly?

Well, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the Meridith actress has a net worth of $80 million.

As mentioned, this is largely thanks to the huge sum she receives per episode, and given shes starred in over 400 episodes, the cash stacks up. But in addition to the huge pay cheque, she also earns syndication royalties and revenue too from the show, according to the site. Meaning she makes about $20 million or more per season.

While working as a bartender at SoHo Bar & Grill in New York City, she was discovered by her future agent.

While doing a food run at Whole Foods in 2003, the actress bumped into music producer, Chris Ivery, and they bonded over their shared love of Boston (where both of them are from). Two days later, they crossed paths again and the rest was history. The couple married in 2007, and have three children together.

Ellen appeared in Taylor Swifts music video for her smash hit single, Bad Blood, in 2015. Can you spot her in the music video below?

According to the actress,Greys Anatomy will likely be the last thing she appears in for a while as she wants to focus on her family.

I made a decision to make money. For me, personally, a healthy homelifewas more important than [my] career. I didnt grow up with a particularly happy childhood. So the idea that I have this great husband and these three beautiful children. A happy home life was really something I needed to complete.

Given that Ellen makes an estimated $20 million per season of Greys Anatomy, this isnt hard to believe. As of 2023, she is the third highest-paid drama actress in Hollywood, underSofia Vergara andKaley Cuoco.

Anatomy of a Divorce: A season 2 is considered by Disney +? The … – New England Center for Investigative Reporting

The new fiction signed by Disney+ approaches in an original way the human existential crisis. The eight episodes have been perfectly directed by Taffy Brodesser-Akne who is also the writer of the novel from which the script is inspired. What a pleasure to see Adam Brody (Newport Beach) and Jesse Eisenberg (Welcome to Zombieland) in a series !

The last minutes of the eighth episode suggest that a sequel is possible but does this open ending fail to conclude perfectly the story of our two heroes ? Impossible to know the intentions of Rachel who perhaps came to apologize or to say goodbye to Toby The season 2 of Anatomy of a divorce could explore many themes but is it really what the creator of the series wants?

Unfortunately, the two heroes of the book that inspired the series meet a similar end. However, the creator of the series (Taffy Brodesser-Akne) seems to have recently considered directing season 2 of Anatomy of a Divorce. She initially stated that a sequel was not in the program before tweeting: The second season of Anatomy of a Divorce will be based on the idea that the Fleishmans will be a legitimate family within five years .

In the face of the onslaught of comments, she said it was a joke. Yet there is another work by Taffy Brodesser-Akne that centers on Toby. Its a short story that was published in 2020 and focuses on the doctors professional life during the peak of the health crisis.

At this time it has therefore not been confirmed that the season 2 of Anatomy of a divorce will not be ordered and there is still hope. The renewal will probably depend on the ratings. If the series is successful internationally, then Disney+ will do its best to produce a sequel.

In reality it is Hulu that will make the decision as the series was released on the green-logoed streaming platform late last year. So, its been almost two months since the final episode was put online. So we should be quickly fixed on the fate of the drama since it usually takes between four and eight weeks for a decision to be made.

Even if we personally hope that the end will remain so, it is highly possible that the series will be renewed. Especially since it is highly appreciated by viewers. However, lets not forget that the only metric that matters is the number of viewing hours.

The release date of Anatomy of a Divorce season 2 will be at the beginning of spring 2024 if it is renewed. It will probably be aired in January 2024 in the US before being put online on Disney+ a few months later. While waiting to have more information about a possible sequel, know that the season 4 of Outer Banks has already been ordered by Netflix!
