Every ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season Is Coming to Hulu – Vulture

Chop chop streamers, its been 13 years. Greys Anatomy is reportedly expanding its 19-season library from just Netflix and ok, TikTok too, in the form of 30-second clips and Subway Surfers footage to Hulu as well. According to sources familiar with the licensing agreement, which is still being finalized, both services will be sharing streaming rights to the show beginning sometime in the spring of 2024, with Hulu getting dibs on the newest episodes for its 20th season. Itll arrive around the same time as the Hulu and Disney+ integration, a.k.a. when the apps finally merge and become one. It remains one of the most popular shows both on linear television and on streaming, with many people revisiting the show on social media (the hashtag #GreysAnatomy has over 51 billion views). Now, you wont have to wait for an anonymous TikTok account to publish the next Greys clip for much longer.

The deal isnt just a one-way street; it also includes some non-branded Disney shows heading to Netflix as well throughout the next year: The Wonder Years (1/1/2024), This is Us (1/8/2024), My Wife & Kids (2/5/2024), ESPN 30 for 30: (25 episodes; with various premiere dates TBD), The Resident (3/4/2024), White Collar (4/1/2024), Reba (5/6/2024), Archer (5/13/2024), How I Met You Mother (6/3/2023), Lost (7/1/2024), Prison Break (7/29/2024), Bernie Mac (1/1/2025), and Home Improvement (2/1/2025). All of these shows will continue to stay on Hulu with no plans of removing them from the platform during the expansion. Now, if we could only add sensory videos into the mix

Anatomy of a Fall steals the show at the European Film Awards 2023 – Euronews

Stars of European cinema lined the red carpet in Berlin for this year's European Film Awards. The competition was fierce, but it was French director Justine Triet's Anatomy of a Fall that came out on top.

After Reykjavik last year, it was once again Berlins turn as it is every other year to host the European Film Awards.

Set up by the European Film Academy in the German capital in 1988, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the event celebrates European cinema and its diversity.

This year, the competition was fierce, but it was French director Justine Triet's Anatomy of a Fall that came out on top, with awards for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Film and Best Actress for Sandra Hller.

The story centres on a writer who finds herself suspected of her husband's death and whose trial will expose her relationship and her identity as a woman.

"I think there is a freedom in Europe that must be preserved, protected, that is magnificent,"Justine Triet told Euronews.

"[It's] a freedom of expression, a freedom to really say what you think, which is actually quite rare when you travel around the world, you realise that it's very precious."

Sandra Hller also stars in The Zone of Interest, a chilling film about the family life of the commander-in-chief of Auschwitz which shows humanity in all its horror, without showing anything of the camp.

Despite the acclaim, the film just missed out on an award this time around.

Speaking to Euronews, the German actress heaped praise on the team behind the European Film Academy.

"It's an extraordinary one, and I think everybody who works behind the scenes - because it's a very silent work, but an important work - has done a magnificent job to put us all together here and to meet, and to discuss interesting topics,"Sandra Hller said.

The awards also showcased European subject matter with films portraying world and European affairs.

The Green Border by Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland is a realistic portrayal of the plight of migrants trapped between Belarus and Poland. The film has attracted criticism from conservatives and the Polish far right.

"There are movies which are courageous and facing the different issues, not only directly political but in the same, we are living in a reality which is political, whatever you touch,"Agnieszka Holland revealed.

In Me Captain, Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone puts us in the shoes of two young men from Dakar who leave everything behind to head for Europe, in the hopes of building a better future for themselves.

"Cinema is also trying to tell the story, to give an experience to the audience and to create empathy with the audience and the characters and give the possibility to them to live the journey,"Matteo Garrone told Euronews.

Finally, nominated but just falling short, was Fallen Leaves, an infinitely poetic love film directed by one of Europe's leading auteurs, Finnish director Aki Kaurismki.

Every Grey’s Anatomy Christmas Episode – Screen Rant

Summary

Grey's Anatomy might not always be the most cheery of television, but it still has its fair share of holiday episodes. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has overcome a lot of adversity and loss during her time at the hospital and did not have the happiest childhood either. For this reason, it's often difficult to get her in the holiday spirit. Additionally, the doctors in the hospital don't get a break for the holidays, they have to keep working and saving lives.

The holiday episodes of Grey's Anatomy evolved with the show, and reflect the important plots and themes of a given season. On the air for 19 seasons, and renewed for the 20th, Grey's Anatomy has never been afraid to put its characters through the wringer, and confront the hard truths they have been avoiding. There are few better times to heal and start fresh than during the holidays. Even when times are tough, the doctors are always there for each other.

Since season 1 of Grey's Anatomy was a mid-season replacement that only aired nine episodes, the first Grey's Anatomy Christmas didn't occur until season 2. In the episode, unsurprisingly, few of the doctors are excited at the prospect of celebrating Christmas. Izzie (Katherine Heigl) attempts to decorate the house she shares with Meredith and George (T. R. Knight), but Meredith is especially against all things festive.

What brings all the interns together is helping Alex (Justin Chambers) study to retake his medical board exams after he failed the first time. All around them, the hospital keeps moving, people keep getting sick, and the doctors are the ones who have to put their lives and needs on hold to help others. Izzie might be the only doctor who loves Christmas, but everyone around her understands the spirit of giving.

"Holidaze" focuses on more than just Christmas. The episode sees the passing of both Thanksgiving and New Year's as well, combining the holidays into the big blur they can become at that time of year. Family is also a significant factor during the holidays, and no one in the hospital feels this more so than Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), whose father comes to visit, and he is not as supportive as she hoped. Miranda is going through a divorce and her father doesn't understand why.

Throughout the episode, Meredith and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) grow closer as he teaches her new surgical skills, and explains his relationship with her mother. Additionally, Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) finds out he has an eighteen-year-old daughter and must come to grips with being a father, and what this means for his relationship with Lexie (Chyler Leigh). Each doctor is faced with a new challenge, or opportunity, in their personal life and discovers what they want their family to look like.

Much of season 7 revolves around the recovery of the doctors after the fateful shooting at the hospital in the finale of season 6. After experiencing significant trauma, Cristina (Sandra Oh) has not gone back to work and is struggling to connect with her life. Derek (Patrick Dempsey), takes her on a fishing trip in the hopes that they will talk and that nature will do her some good. Back at the hospital, Mark does his daily tasks but wants to get back together with Lexie.

"Adrift and at Peace" uses Christmas as a backdrop for the latest hospital drama, but still incorporates themes of togetherness and heading into the new year reborn. Mark and Lexie do reunite by the end of the episode, and it seems that Cristina has made her first step toward healing. As the mid-season finale, the episode still leaves a lot of questions in the air and leaves the fate of the doctors open heading into the second half of season 7.

Miranda has a Christmas-themed wedding in "Run, Baby, Run", but that isn't the only source of drama throughout the episode. Cristina and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) relationship has deteriorated, and they are filing for divorce. While Cristina is going through this, Meredith is also keeping her pregnancy a secret because it's so early on, and she's worried she will miscarry. Part of the tension of season 9 overall is the loss and damage caused by the plane crash in the finale of season 8. The plane crash is the most traumatic episode of Grey's Anatomy.

The crash changed many relationships and saw the passing of both Lexie and Mark. After so much upheaval, the characters on Grey's Anatomy have difficulty committing to their futures in season 9 and are afraid to hope for a better future. "Run, Baby, Run" allows them to move forward and have a chance to build new lives as the new year approaches.

"She's Leaving Home" is a two-part event that encapsulates the events following Derek's death. Series creator, Shonda Rhimes, explained that it was necessary to kill off Derek. However, his death was a controversial departure from the show, and the following two episodes span an entire year as Meredith and the other doctors grieve the loss. The episodes are holiday-themed in that the amount of time that passes includes Christmas, birthdays, and many more events that would usually be spent with loved ones.

Immediately following Derek's funeral, Meredith takes their children and disappears to handle her grief the only way she knows how. It is also revealed that she is pregnant, and she gives birth to her last child with Derek during this time. Derek's departure was such a shock to both the characters and the audience, that the only way to do his absence justice was to dedicate a year of the lives of the remaining doctors to mending.

A few years after Derek's death, Meredith has had time to heal and has started dating. In "Girlfriend in a Coma", she gets thrown right back into the drama of budding romance with the love triangle between her, Link (Chris Carmack), and DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). Season 15 lets Christmas stay on the cheery side as Meredith balances having two dates for a Christmas party, and the doctors establish new traditions with their growing families.

"It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" delivers equal amounts of life-threatening situations for the patients and the doctors. Meredith and Amelia are involved in an exciting breakthrough surgery they're going to perform at Grey Sloan Memorial, and Richard is embroiled in a new plan to improve the education of the residents. Outside the hospital, Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen get into an accidental car crash on their way to deliver a heart to a transplant patient.

The stakes are high in this winter episode, and each of the doctors are trying to improve themselves as surgeons. Owen's fate is left on a cliffhanger, as he heroically tells the other people in the car to go on without him. The story works well as both a holiday episode and a mid-season finale. Questions are posed for the next half of the season, and it's certain that the relationships between the doctors on Grey's Anatomy will never be the same.

Podcasts | Science of cannabis: #2 The anatomy of a high – New Scientist

10 December 2023

Human beings have cultivated cannabis for thousands of years. We have been using it for its euphoric effects for at least several thousand. And as prohibition in the United States and other nations gives way to legal, recreational use, more people are picking up pot for help with sleep, pain, or simple relaxation.

But as medical and recreational use become more popular and increasingly accessible, whats actually going on inside your body and brain when you imbibe? Cannabinoids, the chemicals in cannabis, trigger an entire system of receptors in our nervous systems, immune systems and elsewhere in our tissues. And this internal, endocannabinoid system regulates so much of our physiology that it may explain everything from the post-pot munchiesto runners high.

In the second of this three-part special series on the science of cannabis, Christie Taylor visits the stoned mind, where memory gets hazy, time passes weirdly and creativitymaybe just feels easier to achieve. And why theres so much we dont know yet about how cannabis affects us, both for good and for ill.

Poor Things | Anatomy of a Scene – The New York Times

Im Yorgos Lanthimos, the director of Poor Things. Understand we never lived outside Gods house. What? So Bellas so much to discover. And your sad face makes me discover angry feelings for you. This is a scene that takes place in a restaurant in Lisbon, where Bella Baxter and Duncan, played by Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, are having dinner. And theres other people dancing. During that, the music attracts Bella, and just instinctively, gets up and starts wanting to join the dance. Its a very funny, awkward, physical situation where Bella has never really danced before, and its very intuitive, what she does. Hes not a good dancer. Hes trying to keep up with her. We had a lot of help from Constanza Macras, who did the choreography. So the dance, because shes done it for the first time, it just felt like it should be something quite primitive, slightly baby-like, but then it quickly develops into something that she wants to take hold of and lose control of her self. And Mark, in real life, is also not a great dancer. And on the other hand, Emma is a really good dancer, so we kind of used that dynamic as we were building the choreography. And it actually became funnier than what we thought. What do you keep doing that for? A man over there repeated blinks at me. I blink back for polite, I think. [MUSIC PLAYING]

Grey’s Anatomy: 10 Episodes To Watch If You Miss Meredith & Cristina – Screen Rant

Summary

Meredith and Cristinas friendship has been at the center of Greys Anatomy in the first ten seasons of the medical drama, but some episodes were more important than others for the progress of their relationship. Going from interns to residents and finally attendings, Greys Anatomy seasons 1 to 10 saw them navigating marriages, various cataclysmic events hitting the hospital, and the usual work-related drama that established them as allies before making them friends. Their friendship hit highs and lows through the years, but it also showed how they were always there for each other, no matter their momentary fight or cause for celebration.

Dubbed the twisted sisters, Meredith and Cristina proved to be fiercely protective and supportive of each other, even if the way they showed it was sometimes inexplicable for those outside their friendship. Their loyalty to each other was consistently proved in the most extreme situations, even if sometimes their competitiveness and pride separated them for a while, as the two could be stubborn to admit their shortcomings. Their unique friendship that established very early how the two were each others person made it difficult for others to penetrate their bubble, guaranteeing their relationship to be uncommon and that many would have missed it once Cristina Yang exited Greys Anatomy.

Greys Anatomy season 1, episode 1 aptly established the interpersonal dynamics among all interns and introduced Meredith and Dereks romantic connection, but no relationship was more clearly defined than Meredith and Cristinas coalition-turned-friendship. Indeed, Cristina was initially drawn to Meredith because she was envious of her being surgery royalty, being Ellis Greys daughter, but she quickly recognized Merediths potential. Their research for the cause behind Katie Bryces seizures perfectly exemplified their peculiar connection, as their back-and-forth exchange examined the possible medical causes and simultaneously discussed Merediths love life after she admitted she had hooked up with Derek.

Greys Anatomy series premiere also introduced the first conflict between the two, as their successful diagnosis won them one spot in the OR. Despite Meredith repeatedly saying how she wanted to surrender it to Cristina had they won, Derek chose her to be in the OR, and Meredith didnt cede her spot to Cristina, betraying her word to her. The conflict quickly established how competitive Meredith and Cristina both were, a characteristic most in common between them besides their being dark and twisty when facing lifes challenges, putting them one against the other as Cristina saw Meredith as the favorite because she had slept with an attending.

Greys Anatomy season 1, episode 5 engulfed Meredith with multiple worries, about her career because she ripped her glove during surgery, and her mother, because she had to deal with her long-term care and finances. Returning home only to find an unexpected big party was the cherry on top of her days obstacles, and she only decided to let it go once she saw Cristina dancing on a table and calling to her. The episode marked the first time Meredith and Cristina danced it out as a way to cope with their problems, and it also highlighted how seeing Cristina helped Meredith accept her problems and shake them out.

Greys Anatomy season 2 premiere cemented the bond between Meredith and Cristina with the Youre my person line. Cristina never desired to be pregnant and was always a very private person. However, she still shared with Meredith that she was pregnant, even if she didnt even tell her about her fling with Burke. The episode introduced their moniker for each other because Cristina had to share her emergency contact before her abortion appointment could be confirmed. Choosing Meredith as her emergency contact person was a very practical requirement that forced Cristina to admit her peculiarly strong bond with Meredith to her face, with the nickname becoming emblematic of their relationship.

The aftermath of Meredith's drowning in Elliot Bay took over Greys Anatomy season 3, episode 17, where the doctors tried to save her as she admitted to herself that she stopped fighting against the water for a moment. While the episode proved instrumental for Meredith, as she finally faced she wanted to live, it was also monumental for Cristina. Indeed, Cristina always fled life-or-death situations where she needed to stay at the bedside of someone she cared about who might not have made it after she saw her father dying next to her as they waited for an ambulance.

Despite not being able to deal with the emotions of seeing Meredith half dead in the ER as Bailey and Webber tried to resuscitate her, Cristina still stood there, hands at Merediths ankles as one last round of ACLS drugs was administered, eventually bringing Meredith back to life. This was a milestone for Cristina, as her bond with Meredith meant so much to her that she sat with her feelings and stood by Merediths side, even if all she wanted to do was to avoid the problem, which she tried to do by going to the dollar store and buying a bit of everything she didnt need.

Greys Anatomy season 3s episodes leading up to the finale were focused on Burke and Cristinas wedding and Cristinas concessions so that things could be done in the Burke family tradition. Greys Anatomy season 3 finale started with Cristina suffering through Burkes mother making her wear a too-tight choker and waxing her eyebrows and ended with Burke leaving her at the altar after realizing he had forced the wedding on her. Merediths unwavering support through it all showed how much she understood Cristina, especially as she was processing the breakup, but also her relief at not having to go through the wedding, which she never wanted and only now realized.

Concluding the hospital shooting storyline at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital Greys Anatomy season 6 finale showed one of the most difficult, greatest things Meredith and Cristina did for each other. The absence of attendings on the floor where Cristina and Meredith found Derek meant Cristina and Jackson had to operate on him. However, when Gary Clark found them and threatened to kill them, Owen got shot, prompting Meredith to return the favor to Cristina and dress his wound. Meredith and Cristina saved the lives of their respective love interests, despite the dangers involved due to the shooting and the risk of having their loved ones die on their tables.

The plane crash in the Greys Anatomy season 8 finale also showcased Meredith and Cristinas beautiful friendship. Not only did they help each other live through the unbearable stress of the situation, but they also worked together to help the others survive, performing surgery in the woods and sharing the few scraps they had. Cristina got Meredith to Lexie just before she died, and they leaned on each other physically and emotionally to survive till the rescuers got to them, proving their friendship to be one of the strongest even in situations of unfathomable hardship.

Greys Anatomy season 10 was Sandra Ohs last as Cristina Yang and Meredith and Cristina spent a great deal of it fighting before they got back to their generally supportive selves in season 10, episode 12. Greys Anatomy season 10, episode 12 marked their reconciliation, but only after Cristina accused Meredith of being the surgeon they laughed at and Meredith accused Cristina of having become the heartless surgery god they worshipped as interns. Their competitiveness was always extreme, but their unkind words against each other at least made them talk again. The episode was crucial in letting Meredith and Cristina accept their different paths and the validity of them both.

Greys Anatomy season 10, episode 20 saw Meredith and Cristina mostly apart and busy with their patients, but Meredith nevertheless managed to find time for Cristina as she waited to know if she had been that years Harper Avery Award winner. Greys Anatomy season 10, episode 20 proved yet again how Meredith knew Cristina better than Cristina knew herself, as she repeated throughout the episode how she was happy to go to the ceremony alone. However, when she got there, Cristina realized she wanted Meredith and Owens support. Had Meredith not thought ahead and surprised her with Owen in Boston, Cristina would have had to lose the Harper Avery alone.

Cristinas final day in Greys Anatomy season 10, episode 24 was marked by a big incident in Seattle, and many significant goodbyes. However, none was more important than Meredith and Cristinas goodbye. Meredith spending the best part of the episode trying to get Cristina in a cab to the airport hinted at their goodbye happening outside the hospital. Instead, the Greys Anatomy season 10 finale managed to give Meredith and Cristina the best possible goodbye, by having them dance it out one last time before Cristina reminded Meredith to put herself first by saying that Derek is very dreamy, but he is not the sun. You are.

Lost and Grey’s Anatomy lead list of 14 hit Hulu shows coming to Netflix in 2024 – TechRadar

Lost and Grey's Anatomy, alongside a whole bunch of the best Hulu shows, are coming to Netflix. The two streamers have signed a new deal for 2024 that will expand the range of shows you can watch on both services.

With Grey's Anatomy, the longest-running prime-time medical drama on TV, all of the previous 19 seasons of the show will be available on Hulu as well as on Netflix. Hulu will also get the upcoming 20th season, with episodes available online after they've aired on ABC.

As part of the deal, which we first heard about in early November, Disney is licensing 14 shows to Netflix on a non-exclusive basis. Although as Variety reports, the deal hasn't been signed off just yet so this is not yet fully confirmed.

According to Variety, these are the shows and their expected premiere dates:

As for Grey's Anatomy on Hulu, the older seasons will be available on the streamer when Disney officially launches the Hulu on Disney Plus app, which is currently in beta. That combined app will enable Hulu users to watch most Disney Plus content and vice-versa.

Although it's good to see shows being licensed to more of the best streaming services, don't expect Disney to offer the family jewels to its rivals. CEO Bob Iger made it clear during the firm's last earnings call that Disney did not intend to share its core brands, which are Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.
