10 Things To Expect At Your 20 Week Anatomy Scan | BabyGaga – BabyGaga

Hitting the 20-week mark of pregnancy is a major accomplishment. Youre halfway there to meeting your little one!

What also typically happens around 20 weeks? You get to go to your anatomy scan, also known as a level 2 ultrasound. This is where you get to see your baby in-depth and how much he or she has grown. At this point in your pregnancy, youve probably only had one, maybe two sonograms, so youre probably dying to see how everything is progressing.

Not sure what to expect at your anatomy scan? Here are 10 things to keep in mind before heading to your appointment:

RELATED: 10 Things To Know About Getting An Ultrasound

An ultrasound technician will look closely at every single internal part of your babys body, including the four chambers of the heart, the kidneys, the bladder, brain, spine and more, as well as all the external areasthose cute tiny fingers, toes, legs, arms, and even the little rump.

To ensure theyre getting the perfect view, the technician will twist and turn the ultrasound wand all over your belly, controlling the images on screen. While they will likely be explaining what each part is showing up on the screen, feel free to ask questions so you fully understand everything youre viewing. Its quite the show!

If you didnt find out the gender of your baby during a noninvasive prenatal test in the first trimester, then the moment of truth awaits: Is your baby a boy or a girl? This can be an incredibly exciting moment for both you and your spouse, especially if youve had intense gut feelings over which one it could be. Note that depending on what position your baby is in, it could be tougher to determine.

If you dont want to find out the gender until birth, thats okay toojust let your technician know and shell have you look away when shes examining the sex organs.

Did you know the placenta can implant itself in different positions in your body? For example, if youre not feeling flutters or kicks just yet, you may learn you have an anterior placenta or a placenta that grows in the front of the uterus.

RELATED: 10 Things To Know About Your 8-Week Ultrasound

You could also have a posterior placenta, which is located at the back of the uterus; a fundal placenta, located at the top of the uterus; a low-lying placenta, which is at the bottom of the uterus; or having your placenta simply be on the side of the uterus. Luckily, where the placenta is located doesnt typically affect pregnancy or delivery, but speak with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Whether youve put on one or 10 pounds in your pregnancy so far, you might be curious to know just what your actual baby weighs these days. Around the 20-week mark, a normal range is around a whopping 8-13 ounces. But dont be alarmed if youre measuring ahead or behindthis is, of course, just an estimate!

The technician will also measure the baby from crown to rump, as well as its middle section and around the head. He or she still has a lot more growing to do,but will likely have a few growth spurts coming up, so be prepared!

While you may be quickly in and out at your other doctors appointment, youll need to set aside at least 30-45 minutes for your anatomy scan. Sometimes it can take upwards of an hour, especially if your baby is squirming around and not showing the technician what needs to be seen.

RELATED:10 Things to Do During Nap Time (Besides Nap)

Most of the time, changing positions on the table or having the technician wiggle around the wand can get the baby to move, but if theyre not able to get the detailed photos they need, you may need to come back. This doesn't mean anything is wrong, so take it as a positive thing: Just another chance to see your baby!

At your last ultrasound, you may have gotten just three or four photos of your babyand the fetuswas likely just the size of a gummy bear. This time, youll get to take home at least a dozen or more photos of various parts of your baby (which are much more developed than last time).

Note that this ultrasound may be the last time you see the baby before its born, so really take in these photos. Get some cute frames to put one or two of the photos in, or displaythem on your fridge so you can see him or her every time you grab a snack.

Most anatomy scans offer standard 2-dimensional images, but more and more offices are converting to 3D or even 4D ultrasound technology. It doesnt hurt to ask if this is something your practice offers. If they dont, you can always find a place that offers private ultrasoundsyou may just need to pay a little extra for it.

RELATED: 10 Things About Ultrasounds You Didn't Know (And Should)

If youre curious about what your baby looks like, seeing him or her in 3D or 4D can really give you a clue if theyre taking more after mom or dad. So long as the baby is in a good position, youll get a solid glance at more of their features.

Seeing your baby on-screen during your anatomy scan can really put things into perspective about what he or she is doing in there. It may be pretty surprising to see just how much theyre moving around!

If youve got an especially wiggly baby, youll see it all come up on the screen. They could be doing anything from sprawling out their legs to putting their hands over their head to even sucking their thumb. No matter what position theyre in, its truly mesmerizing to watch (and this is only the beginning!).

It can be truly surreal to see your baby right there on the screenin front of you, especially as the first time youre seeingthem starting to look like a real human! Its true that you never realize just how cute baby feet and toes are until you see them in black and white on your own child.

Every single body part the technician scans over will make you squeal with delight, wondering how in the world this nearly fully developed human is growing inside of you. If you didnt think childbearing was a miracle before, you surely will now!

Even though the anatomy scan is an exciting time, you might be surprised that youre a bit nervous before heading in. This is totally normal (after all, youre a mom now and the worrying never ends).

Its easy to be scared that the technician is going to find something wrong, butremember that its better to be prepared in advance. If you end up getting referred to a specialist, you can get likely get whatever the problem is under control and prepare for whats to come. But chances are, youll come away from the anatomy scan relieved and happy.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: The Tragic Thing That Happened to Meredith That Everyone Forgets About – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Its been a tough year for Meredith Grey. The mother of three and lead character onGreys Anatomy got fired from her job, spent time in jail, and faced the very real possibility of losing her medical license.

Thats not to mention her community service stint, her daughters health issues, and the end of her first stable relationship in several years.

But its more than the past year, Meredith Grey has definitely had to fight through some challenges to get to where she is today. And while many fans will agree that the death of her husband was arguably the worst thing to happen to the talented doctor, theres one tragic event that many fans seem to forget.

Meredith Grey has come a long way since she first met Derek Shepherd in Joes bar. That young faced intern has grown into an award-winning surgeon whos not afraid to take chances. But it hasnt been easy.

Meredith grew up without a father. Her father left when she was a child and eventually started a family with another woman. Her mother wasnt really there for her either, focusing more on her work than her young child.

Merediths issues were apparent from the very beginning of Greys Anatomy. She struggled with her relationship with Derek and battled very dark personal demons.

At one point Meredith fell into the Puget Sound and decided to give up fighting, dying before her fellow surgeons saved her.

Even though they were able to bring her back to life, she has spent her years learning to live alongside the demons of her past.

Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd have always been the dream couple. Their relationship is one that you wish you had. Their love was instant and survived so many obstacles. When Derek died at the end of Season 11, fans were heartbroken. Meredith and the show would never be the same.

Meredith took her husbands death hard and she dealt with it the only way she knew how. She disappeared with her children in the middle of the night, and only returned when she gave birth to her third child.

Though Meredith has survived and arguably became a better doctor, her relationships and family have never been the same. It took a long time for her to open up herself to be with anyone else.

It can be hard to keep track of everything that Meredith Grey has had to endure. She has lost both parents, a spouse, siblings, and friends. She has been fired, suspended, and been personally challenged in ways that most people never will.

But theres one event that seems to be forgotten, not because it was unimportant or because it didnt affect the doctor, but merely because it is one of many tragic events.

During Season 12, Meredith was treating an accident victim. The victim had a seizure and suffered from post-seizure hyper-aggression. The typically mild-mannered man became suddenly and viciously aggressive. He attacked Meredith and left her helpless on the floor, as he faded back into unconsciousness.

It was several minutes until Meredith was found. At that point, she could not hear or speak. The attack also affected Meredith psychologically and she suffered from severe anxiety in the weeks that followed.

Its hard to say how much the events of that day and the weeks that followed truly effected Meredith Grey. And perhaps fans have become numb to the trauma the surgeon has endured because there has just been so much.

Throughout every tragedy, Dr. Grey has only come out stronger. While it may be tough to watch Meredith struggle so much, the pain and heartache have made her into the fearless doctor she is today.

The anatomy of resistance: how the anti-CAA movement took shape in West Bengal – The Hindu

Abdul, 37, works at a roadside barbers shop in Agarpara. He does not know too much about what the NRC is or what it means for him. I know more now from having walked in rallies, though, he says.

When I ask him if he will participate in future protests against the NRC, he says nonchalantly, If need be.

Our area is mini India; we have people from every State here. We dont know any differences, he says.

Afterwards, he asks me if I am a journalist. You can draw a cartoon of a great ghost, he suggests, Label it NRC.

On December 19, Kolkata saw a 60,000-strong rally which managed to bring together people cutting across social, economic, cultural and religious groups.

Deliberations on resistance began in Kolkata in August 2019, a year after about 40 lakh people were left stateless after the publication of the second draft NRC for Assam.

"At first, it was only a vague idea: that we must do something to counter this," said Sukhendu Sarkar, Associate Professor of Economics at Sivanath Shastri College and social activist for over four decades. The 'No NRC' Movement group was formed with an organising committee of seven. On September 5, 2019, the organisation created a public Facebook group and within one month and five days, the member strength rose to one lakh.

The committee adopted several resolutions. "One of them was to not engage political parties or their frontal organisations in their organisational capacity. It was an open call to the people to be a part of the movement, so that anyone could be included" says Mr. Sarkar. "Our movement works on one core principle: that whoever is now residing in India and whose ancestors used to live in pre-1947 undivided India, must be treated as citizens of India."

At first, district-preparatory units were constituted. "We campaigned in 10 districts. In Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Maldah and Nadia, we were able to form district-level units," said Mr. Sarkar. From September to December, the No NRC Movement held 84 street-corner meetings and three rallies, and printed10,000posters and 5,400 booklets. 1,50,000 was collected in donations. "We place our monthly accounts every month before our members," said Mr. Sarkar.

However, on the day of the rally, the organisers were faced with an unforeseen issue. "After the CAA came into being, people came down to the streets spontaneously throughout the State, and in some areas, incidents of violence erupted. Long-distance trains were stopped, thus leaving out people from two of our key districts Maldah and Murshidabad," said Mr. Sarkar. These were the two places from where 30,000 participants were expected. Yet, the proportion that the rally assumed belied expectations.

It brought together students, teachers, artists, social activists; from queer communities and hijab-clad women, to jute mill workers. "The funny thing was that we had not been given formal permission for the rally. However, on the 19th, the police started requesting us to hold the rally adjacent to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation office the same place which had earlier been refused by the administration," said Mr. Sarkar.

Biplab Bhattacharya of Association for Protection of Democratic Rights, who was also a key convener of the December 19 rally, said youth participation at the district-level meetings was unprecedented. "At places like Chanchol or Harishchandrapur, we had 10,000 and 12,000 footfall respectively, which exceeded our expectations by far. With the CAA, the government has firstly managed to insult the sensibilities of the youth, having asked them to prove their citizenship. Secondly, it has hurt the Bengali identity."

Mr. Sarkar agreed: In Bengal, about two crores have been branded ghuspaithiyas - which is 20% of the State population. Of the 19,06,657 left out of the NRC in Assam, 18 lakh were Bengalis coincidentally, that is also 20% of Assams Bengali population.

However, while the protests have proceeded more or less unhindered, the situation is far from ideal, said Mrinmoy Sarkar, a member of Progressive Democratic Students Federation, who has campaigned for various protests in the State.

He has been a part of student protests in various institutions across Bengal, including Jadavpur University, Medical College, Indian Statistical Institute, Biswa Bharati, Presidency. On December 21, a rally of about 5000 students was conducted.

While Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's declared anti-CAA stance has helped, it is not a situation that brings much hope, says Mr. Sarkar. When the amendment to the Citizenship Act was brought in 2003, there had been complete political silence. That was the root of today's troubles," said Mr. Sarkar.

Debotri Goswami, member of Feminists in Resistance, was recently in news after she and her colleagues were attacked while trying to hold a peaceful information campaign in Kolkata's Baghajatin. A man beat them up with bamboo sticks while chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'. Ms. Goswami believes their attacker had been "brainwashed". "When we tried asking him questions after he was subdued, he kept chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'. When people who had gathered around pounced on him, we tried to stop them. We offered him water but he refused it, saying he was sure we had poisoned it."

Even at the face of violence, Ms. Goswami believes peace is still the answer, ideologically and tactically. "People could see we had been singing and distributing leaflets when we were attacked. Solidarity poured in for us the next day," she said.

The No NRC Movement now aims higher. Their plan of action is to organise resistance through all the 23 districts of West Bengal.

Sukhendu Sarkar calls it a civic resistance expedition. On January 6, 2020, the group called for a meeting to devise a plan of action. Invitation to participate has been thrown open to the masses.

It has now added the cause of the JNU students who were violently attacked by masked miscreants to its agitation.

Ms. Goswami and Feminists in Resistance organised a flash mob, comprising 100 women, on January 4, 2020. The idea was for it to be like what happened in Chile, she said.

Their members have attended rallies organised throughout the State. In Kolkata, they have targeted the colonies of mostly settlers in the southern region, where they have distributed leaflets and conducted information campaigns.

We really believe in the power of music to spread messages, she said. Of course, we wouldnt go for Brahma sangeet. We know the masses wouldnt take to that. Instead, the group plans to use music like that out of renowned Bengali film Hirak Rajar Deshe.

Mrinmoy Sarkar also said that protests are now planned to go beyond first tier education institutes in the State. On January 8, the organisation participated in a State-wide students strike against police violence on students and privatisation of education. Campaigning is expected to reach out to districts like Hooghly and Murshidabad where student response has been massive.

Free whitepaper: Anatomy of work: a look at how employees really spend their time at work – The Drum

As organizations rely more and more heavily on collaborative tools and software platforms (IDC predicts that the market for collaborative applications will increase to $26.6BN by 2030), it has become harder to track what kind of work employees are actually getting up to.

A new Anatomy of Work Index whitepaper from Asana is all about learning how marketers actually spend their days in the office, and analyzing their overall rate of productivity. It uses this data, which has been drawn from a pool of 10,000 knowledge workers globally and includes workers in roles such as chief marketing officer, head of brand and senior marketing manager, to see where agencies and brands can improve in order to start becoming more effective in the 2020's.

Some of the key learnings include the fact that the majority of global employees (60%) spend most of their time on work about work, which could be emailing someone about plans or doing practical, non-creative tasks such as micro-managing others. In comparison, just 40% spend time on skilled work like executing a campaign, and this highlights the fact that most workers are losing the battle when it comes to finding time to embrace more thoughtful, deeper work tasks.

Even more worrying is the fact that polled employees are only spending 27% of their time at work on skills based work; the craft they were actually trained and hired to carry out. Therefore it is high time we found a solution, and this whitepaper will help to provide practical advice on how you can create a more inspired team thats set up to execute their roles much more effectively.

Asanas Anatomy of Work index also explores how unbalanced workloads are crippling employees and negatively impacting their productivity. The index has found 26% of employees have too much work to do, which subsequently drives stress and feelings of being unsettled. Its goal is to inspire you to find ways to ensure workers are doing their 9-to-5 more effectively, and not wasting their time on things that create unhappiness in the workplace.

Another fascinating insight the index provides is around how many hours a day workers find themselves distracted, and youll be able to compare how UK workers compare to the US, Germany, Australia, and even Japan. The fact, on average, 1 hour and 4 minutes is wasted daily by knowledge workers globally due to distractions or procrastination shows how much room there is for improvement.

The Anatomy of Work examines how to break down those barriers that stop workers from being productive and showing how technology, such as Asanas own work management tool, can help create a system that benefits everybody when applied correctly and not just at a whim.

The most forward-thinking organisations in the world know how to leverage time-saving work management software to reimagine their workplace, and this forward-thinking piece of research will show why taking control of workloads and collaborating more thoughtfully is a must if your workers are to reach the next level.

The anatomy of a thriller: How the Nuggets sealed their clutch win over the Mavs – The Denver Post

DALLAS It was impossible not to feel sympathetic for Nikola Jokic as he wrestled with a weight in the hallway late Wednesday night considering what hed already accomplished.

As has become customary, Jokic, along with Juancho Hernangomez, Malik Beasley and the Nuggets strength trainers, grunted through a postgame workout that left Denvers superstar dripping in sweat when he finally met with the media following his game-winning bucket against the Mavericks.

Its always nice, Jokic said with a grin. Thats my after-game squad.

Less than half an hour earlier, Jokic was busy dominating Dallas frontcourt, bludgeoning them for 33 points, including 26 in the second half. He even buried four 3-pointers his ace in the hole, as he called his long-range weapon.

Though plenty happened throughout the first 47:52 at American Airlines Center, it was the final two possessions that sealed Denvers riveting 107-106 win. The victory was even more impressive considering the Nuggets were at the end of a taxing, 10-day road trip and without starters Paul Millsap and Will Barton.

Neither factor entered the players minds with Denver trailing 106-105 with 23 seconds left and the ball out of bounds on the sidelines.

Jamal Murray initiated the action with a tree-trunk screen on Mavericks center Dwight Powell to free up Jokic and force undersized forward Dorian Finney-Smith onto the Nuggets star. The only problem was that Jokic, who generally sees the game three steps ahead of his opponent, didnt recognize he had the mismatch.

Thats why I passed out, then I figured out that I had a mismatch, Jokic said.

That miscalculation nearly ended in disaster after Jokics pass to Murray was deflected and sent careening toward halfcourt.

Just track down the ball, Murray said laughing. He threw the ball, it went off me, so I had to go get it.

From there, Murray sent the ball back inside, where Jokic was waiting to go to work.

What Im most happy about that last possession is that we stayed with it, Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. We were able to get the re-post, he took his time and scored against a smaller guy in the post. So, hes our go-to player, hes an MVP candidate for a reason. And end of the games, the ball will be in his hands to make the right play.

But the work wasnt done after Jokic dropped his right shoulder, spun and laid in his 12th bucket of the night. There were eight seconds left, and the Mavericks still had one of the most lethal playmakers in the NBA at their disposal in Luka Doncic.

Its two of the most promising young players in the entire NBA, two of the best players in the world, Malone said of the two international stars. One guy from Slovenia, one guy from Serbia, and tonight on national TV, they put all their talents on full display. Im a coach, but Im also a huge fan of the game, I love the game of basketball. I love seeing great players play.

The Mavericks took a full timeout, and the Nuggets made their defensive adjustments. Out came their two offensive stalwarts, Jokic and Murray, in came versatile defenders Torrey Craig and Mason Plumlee. Together, along with rangy forward Jerami Grant, Gary Harris and Beasley, the Nuggets suffocated Dallas final attempt.

That last play, me and (assistant) Wes (Unseld Jr.) talked, Malone said. He said, You know if you want to hit (Luka), get the ball out of his hands. I said, You tell me. And he said, Lets do it.

The Nuggets first victory on the defensive highlight came via Grant not allowing Doncic to catch the inbounds pass, costing the Mavericks several precious seconds. After Doncic finally gained possession the Nuggets swarmed him, just as their coaches had asked.

Craig and Grant trapped him, forcing an outlet to the corner, which Beasley snuffed out almost immediately. From there, with the clock winding down, Plumlee flew in to block the baseline and extinguish any window for the Mavs to shoot. With nowhere to go, Finney-Smith threw the ball into the backcourt as time expired and the entire Nuggets bench charged onto the court.

We committed to it and our guys flew around behind him and we wound up forcing a turnover to seal the win, Malone said, beaming at his teams effort.

It was a shootout, Murray said. It was our defense that won the game.

ABC Boss Hopes For Season 18 Of Greys Anatomy, Reveals Number Of Station 19 Crossovers TCA – Deadline

ABCs medical dramaGreys Anatomy made more history last spring witha two-year renewal for Seasons 16 and 17. The series star, Ellen Pompeo, is signed for both seasons the current 16th and the next 17th. Will the 2020-21 season presently the last in Pompeos contract be Greys last?

I hope not, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said during TCA.Greys Anatomy will live as long as Ellen is interested in playing Meredith Grey.

The network hasnot started conversations with Pompeo yet about doing additional seasons.

We will let her lead the pace on that, Burke told Deadline.

Soon moving to 9 PM, Greys Anatomy, the longest running medical drama on television, will be preceded on Thursdays by the third season of spinoff Station 19, withGreys executive producer/showrunner Krista Vernoff now in charge of both series, creating opportunities for seamless narrative.

Station 19 will kick off its third season with a two-hour Station 19-Greys crossover. It will be one of four such crossover events through the season, Burke said today.

In an interview with Deadline in November, Vernoff said that the two shows will interconnect every few episodes. We dont want to do it every week, we dont want to create a mold, we dont want to fall into any kind of pattern, we dont want people to ever know what to expect, she said. We have found many different, really quite exciting and fun ways to interact between the two shows.

Today, Vernoff was complimented by Burke about the way she has done that.

You will start to see relationships emerge between characters that exist in the Station world and the Greys world in really organic ways, Burke said. I am incredibly impressed by what Krista and her team have done to make those worlds feel very seamless in an organic way, not feel forced. And then we will have throughout the Season 4 tentpole events that revolve around big emergencies that would naturally start with first responders (on Station 19) and end up in the hospital (on Greys) and will take the storytelling to a two-hour block.

‘Grey’s Anatomy Fans Are Disappointed This Character Has Become Totally Useless – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

At this point,Greys Anatomy has been on the air for over a decade. Sixteen seasons in, only four members of the shows original cast remain.

To compensate for the notable exits of beloved characters over the years, plenty of new faces have become familiar to fans who tune into the show regularly.

So it only makes sense that seeing some of those faces slowly fade away only to watch them reappear as devices to move an episodes plot forward before disappearing again frustrates fans more than boring, repetitive storylines.

Dr. Carina DeLuca, played byStefania Spampinato, strode confidently onto the set of Greys Anatomy in Season 14.

The arrival of this Italian older sister of Andrew DeLuca was highly anticipated by fans. Her beauty and Italian temperament did not disappoint. The sibling rivalry hinted at the drama played outbetween Derek Shepherd and his sister, Amelia.

Then there was her specialty, researching the female orgasm. Little brother Andrew was not comfortable with that.

Fans soon learned that Carina is attracted to both men and women, and her first love interest is Arizona. Andrew discovers his sisters Seattle arrival when he finds Carina making out with his roommate.

Potential plot twists were numerous, varied, exciting, and unexpected. Carinas romance with Arizona sizzled in brief scenes tucked into all of the other plots weaving around the hospital. The romance fizzled when Arizonas daughter arrived and she had less time for Carina.

A steamy scene between Owen and Carina solidified the split, although it continued to steam around the edges. Fans were led to believe that Carina and Arizona would eventually get their act together. But Arizona moved to New York at the end of the season.

The show temporarily returned her to Italy In Season 15. She needed to spend time with her father, also a doctor, who was in difficulties caused by mental illness. Carina does not return to the show until midway through the season.

As the season winds down, she is furthered sidelined from the plot. Carina is embroiled in a family drama, not a love affair. Very little is seen of her medical skills.

Carina gets a mention toward the end of a TV Fanatic review of Season 15: Carina is still at GSM (!), and she gave a nice speech about the male G-spot. Carina is at her best when shes spouting off her knowledge and scoffing at all things American. Maybe if shes sticking around, shell be utilized better.

So far in Season 16, Carina intuited Amelias pregnancy when Amelia approached Carina to propose a threesome. Carina inquires, Are you here for your pregnancy or just asking for a menage a trois?

Later, she gives Amelia the sonogram report suggesting her baby is Owens and not Links. But where is Carinas personal drama? Is she becoming just a background player preparing to jet back to Italy?

Is Carina preparing to move to Call the Midwife where her OB/GYN skills will be played up? Only time will tell.
