Grey’s Anatomy: Jo Is ‘Spiraling’ from Pregnancy News (Exclusive) – PEOPLE

Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) may not be quite ready to add another baby to her brood.

In PEOPLE's exclusive preview of the April 11 episode of Grey's Anatomy, Jo frets over the possibility that she is expecting a baby with boyfriend Atticus "Link" Lincoln (Chris Carmack) as they already have their plates full with her daughter Luna and his and Amelia Shepherds (Caterina Scorsone) son, Scout.

This is the worst time to consider having a baby. It never stops, she tells Link as she searches for a pregnancy test at the hospital. My written exams are coming up and Lunas starting preschool.

ABC

If their busy schedules werent enough, she soon panics that another baby equals more dirty diapers. Oh my god, the diapers," she notes. "Do you know how many diapers we would need if we had three kids who weren't potty trained?

Try not to panic. This could be nothing, Link reassures her, but she adds, Six diapers a day per kid, that's like, a thousand diapers a week.

Link realizes her math isnt adding up and tells her, Not even close.

How could this happen? Jo asks. I'm an OB-GYN, half my job is to have women not get pregnant.

ABC

Once she finds the pregnancy test, Link tells her that she is spiraling out of control and she counters, How are you not?!"

The pregnancy scare comes after Link supported her when she felt guilty about her happiness following Sam Suttons (Sam Page) death. He reminded her that she had experienced a lifetime of hard and was deserving of their long-awaited life together.

Every time I saw you go through something awful, it broke my heart because you are the fiercest, kindest, smartest, most loyal person, he said. Those years when we werent in each others lives, those were dark years and I thought of you every single day. So weve been through too much together and apart. You deserve this. We deserve this.

Liliane Lathan/ABC/Getty

When she asked what happened if they didn't work out, he responded, Oh, were going to work out. I just wasted 20 years of my life not acting on it."

Why Did Sarah Drew Leave Grey’s Anatomy? – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Summary

ABC's long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy has lost many characters over the years. While some of them have been written out in heartbreaking storylines like Derek Shepherd's devastating death that saw Patrick Dempsey leave the series, or T.R. Knight's George O'Malley being involved in a tragic accident others have been sent off for more complicated and sometimes off-screen reasons. Those departures often sting just as much.

Sarah Drew played Dr. April Kepner for almost 10 seasons before she was one of the actors written out of Grey's Anatomy for a surprising reason. While it was a relief that Kepner wasn't killed off like some of her predecessors, the news of Drew's departure was very upsetting to many fans, who'd come to love her character. So what exactly happened that caused the series to let April and Drew go?

Updated on April 12, 2024 by Katie Doll: When she was first introduced, April Kepner was hardly a fan-favorite among fans. Some people found it irritating to try to sympathize with her, considering she made grave mistakes that proved she didn't deserve a spot in the prestigious residency program. However, April showed strength as a person who's willing to own up to her mistakes and learn from them. She quickly became a favorite among viewers who saw themselves as the underdogs trying to stick to their moral values. This article has been updated to expand more on April's storyline toward the end of her run on Grey's Anatomy and the projects Sarah Drew's taken on since her departure.

First Appearance

Season 6, Episode 5, "Invasion"

Last Appearance (as main cast)

Season 14, Episode 24, "All of Me"

Last Appearance (as guest star)

Season 18, Episode 20, "You Are the Blood"

April Kepner made her series debut in Season 6, Episode 5, "Invasion" as a Mercy West resident who joined Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after the merger between the two hospitals. April was quickly fired after failing to check in a patient's airway after a fire and that mistake led to the patient's death. However, Derek (who was almost played by Rob Lowe) rehired April when he became the new Chief of Surgery, and she consequently developed a crush on him.

But that crush ended when she developed a relationship with Jackson Avery. However, the pair weren't a perfect match due to their differing beliefs in religion. April was a devout Christian saving herself for marriage, a motive that most of her peers mocked her for, and Jackson was an atheist. Although they made it work for some time, they ultimately broke up after losing her virginity to him and failing her board exams. She then begins a relationship with a paramedic named Matthew, who seemed like the perfect match for her in their mutual bubbly personalities and faith.

April and Jackson's up-and-down relationship culminated with him professing his love during her wedding ceremony to Matthew. The pair soon got married after themselves and April later became pregnant with their first child, Samuel. However, the newborn baby died shortly after birth due to his Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type 2 diagnosis. Their child's death put a strain on their marriage and led to April's employment as a trauma surgeon overseas. When April returned, she and Jackson filed for divorce, just before April discovered she was pregnant with their second child, Harriet.

Later, April was deeply saddened about three patients' deaths and struggled with her Christian faith. After losing a patient, she began to believe that only good people die and bad people are rewarded. When Arizona Robbins (played by the recently returned Jessica Capshaw) blamed April for the death of Matthew's pregnant wife, she started making dangerous lifestyle changes to cover up her mental health issues. She earned the nickname "The Party" for her self-destructive party-going habits and using sex as a coping mechanism. She put these habits aside when she met a terminally ill patient who helped her find faith again.

April reunited with her former fiance Matthew after getting back to her normal self, but things weren't looking up for April. The two get into a car accident where April almost dies of hypothermia, due to nobody finding them immediately. But her "rebirth" perfectly encapsulates her struggle with faith for the last two seasons Jackson prays for April, despite not believing in God, and April wakes up. Perhaps good people do receive good things. April and Matthew then married in the Season 14 finale. She subsequently resigned from the hospital and began providing medical care to communities stricken with homelessness.

While many actors left the show to seek out new and exciting roles including Jesse Williams, who played Drew's on-screen love interest Jackson Avery Sarah Drew's exit from Grey's Anatomy wasn't her decision. In a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Drew recounted how she was told the show "needed to downsize" to accommodate the countless cast members. She was subsequently terminated as a result along with Jessica Capshaw, who portrayed Dr. Arizona Robbins.

However, she returned in Season 17 when Williams departed the show. April was revealed to have separated from Matthew and moved to Boston with Jackson to lead the Catherine Fox Foundation with their daughter. But the show wasn't over yet for April and Jackson. The now reconciled couple returned again in the Season 18 finale, which was the series' 400th episode. They were in Seattle to help the residency program, which was at great risk of being shut down, since Jackson's the head of the Catherine Fox Foundation.

There was also a secret kiss in the elevator, which every iconic Grey's Anatomy couple must do in order to romantically flourish. But since then, Jackson and April have moved on to better things beyond Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Since Grey's Anatomy gave Jackson and April their happy ending and both are still alive, there's no reason that Dr. April Kepner couldn't make another guest appearance in the future.

Drew's departure from Grey's Anatomy obviously wasn't her decision, but the actor has done well for herself since saying goodbye to the medical drama. She's starred in a number of Lifetime and Hallmark television films, even acting as executive producer for two of them: How She Caught a Killer and Reindeer Games Homecoming. The latter of which she also wrote the screenplay for.

The most popular projects Drew's starred in since Grey's Anatomy have been the television shows Cruel Summer and Amber Brown. In the former, she portrayed Cindy Turner, the mother of one of the main characters in Season 1. Amber Brown is a family television series based on the book of the same name, which was released on Apple TV+ in 2022. Drew portrays the mother of a young girl dealing with the divorce of her parents.

Grey's Anatomy is available to stream on Hulu and Netflix. New episodes air every Thursday at 9 P.M. ET on ABC.

A drama centered on the personal and professional lives of five surgical interns and their supervisors.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, Episode 5 Recap: 6 Biggest Story Reveals – Screen Rant

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Grey's Anatomy season 20, episode 5.

This article contains discussion of mental health and suicide.

Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 marked the official halfway point of the season. Following the writers and actors strikes, Greys Anatomy season 20 was given an abridged 10-episode order, a big shift from its past seasons that typically consisted of 20 or more episodes. In the final five episodes of the season, viewers can expect one final crossover between Greys Anatomy and Station 19 before the firefighter spinoff show ends. Fortunately, the Greys Anatomy season 21 renewal means viewers have many more episodes to look forward to following the shortened season 20.

In Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5, Meredith made another return while the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital dealt with a major accident involving medical students. The Greys Anatomy episode followed its typical formula that requires the story to find a balance between the patients and cases and the doctors personal lives. While this episode was more patient and case-oriented in some respects, the cases themselves allowed viewers to learn more about the doctors. Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 also addressed important mental health issues, potentially opening the door for more serious storylines.

After seasons of will they/wont they, Jo and Link finally got together at the end of Greys Anatomy season 19. Since then, their relationship has only grown stronger. However, an innocent conversation threatened to ruin their honeymoon phase when Jo realized her period was late. Though they are both parents already, the possibility of Jo being pregnant forced them to consider whether they were ready to have a baby together.

Jo panicked over the possibility of being pregnant in Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5, reminding Link that they already had two babies at home still in diapersScout, whom Link had with Amelia, and Jos adopted daughter Luna. Meanwhile, Link tried to be supportive, reminding Jo that she had options if she was pregnant and that whatever happened, they were in it together. After one test had an inconclusive result, another revealed Jo was not pregnant, causing even more mixed feelings for the couple.

While Link was relieved at the negative result, Jo felt confused by her own lack of relief. Towards the end of Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5, Jo confessed to Link that she did want to have a baby with him eventually, preferably when Luna was a bit older. Link told Jo that he could want a baby with her as well, he just needed more time to get used to the idea. While Jo and Link likely arent having a baby anytime soon in Greys Anatomy, its a storyline that can be revisited, especially with the medical dramas astounding longevity.

After appearing in the first three episodes of Greys Anatomy season 20, Meredith was missing in episode 4, only to make another appearance in episode 5. Though Ellen Pompeo is no longer a Greys Anatomy series regular, with Meredith leaving Seattle for Boston in the season 19 winter finale, she has appeared in multiple episodes since then. While Greys Anatomy has proved it can survive without Meredith, she is never more than a phone call away.

Greys Anatomy season 20 set her up for a larger role for Meredith than may have been expected due to her new Alzheimers research with Amelia. When it was first proposed, Meredith told Amelia they could work together from their opposite coasts, but in Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 4, Teddy gave them funding from the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital discretionary fund. This gave Meredith even more excuses to return to Seattle, which is where she was at the start of Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 before a call from Nick had her flying back to Boston.

While Meredith was in Seattle, Nick was watching her three children. When her son, Bailey, started showing signs of early appendicitis, Nick took him to the hospital. Nick eventually called Meredith, but Meredith was upset that hed taken Bailey to the hospital without telling her. Meredith was harsh on Nick, and she confessed to Richard this was partially because her son being in the hospital reminded her of when Derek was in the hospital before his tragic and untimely death.

Nick and Meredith eventually made up, with Meredith apologizing for her behavior. Nick isnt Merediths first boyfriend since Derek died, but he appears to be her most serious relationship since. With Nick having moved to Boston for Meredith, he has taken on more of a co-parenting role with her, something Meredith is still getting used to in Greys Anatomy.

After Winston didnt follow Maggie to Chicago, the Greys Anatomy season 19 finale saw some hope for the couple when they agreed to try and make their marriage work long distance. However, Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 3 revealed that Maggie wasnt keeping up on her end of the promise by constantly canceling on Winston at the last minute whenever he planned trips to visit her in Chicago. Winston took off his wedding ring at the end of that episode, but it wasnt until Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 that it was confirmed they were getting a divorce.

Early in Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5, Winston was immediately put into a bad mood when he was served with divorce papers. Though it hadnt been revealed yet that they were divorce papers, his reaction and lack of a wedding ring made it pretty clear. Their marriage was already over by the time Maggie sent the papers, but it didnt make it any easier for Winston, who had been fighting to save their relationship for the past season.

After taking his anger out on a patient, Jules boldly confronted her attending, which eventually led him to change his behavior. Towards the end of Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5, Amelia checked in on Winston, knowing Maggie had sent the papers. With Amelia still recovering from her breakup with Kai and Winston now getting divorced, Greys Anatomy season 20 should continue to explore their growing friendship.

Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 featured a major trauma that caused a group of medical students to become patients at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The students had been at a party following their white coat ceremony, an event that celebrates the beginning of their time in medical school, when the second-floor deck collapsed, leading to a variety of injuries. Most of the patients were drunk and rowdy, while a student named Eddie was relatively calm.

Eddie had a simple dislocated shoulder, and after a long shift, Bailey told Simone, who had taken care of him, to go home and pass him off to Kwan. However, just before she was about to leave, she realized Eddie was missing. Assuming he was drunk like most of the other students and had just wandered off, the two interns went looking for him, eventually finding him on the roof, standing dangerously close to the ledge.

Simone realized that Eddie was completely sober and while he told them he wasnt sure if he came to the roof intending to hurt himself, he was ready to let the wind decide. Ben, who had been visiting Bailey and had mental health training through Station 19s Crisis One program, told Kwan that if they could keep Eddie talking, they could save his life. Eddie threw his white coat off the roof, confessing that he didnt feel like he deserved it. With all the pressure and pain of medical school, Eddie worried that he might not be cut out to be a doctor.

Kwan reassured Eddie that he wasnt alone in feeling that way, referencing the Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 title, Never Felt So Alone. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Kwan admitted to Eddie that he too still doesn't feel like a doctor, but he's still here. Fortunately, Eddie got off the ledge safely due to Kwan and Simones help. With Kwans confession, Greys Anatomy season 20 could and should continue to explore the mental health of the doctors and the interns in particular.

Another couple who received a good amount of screentime in Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 was Yasuda and Helm. The episode began with Helm, now co-chief resident, helping Yasuda study. As the only intern to have completed her procedure log, Yasuda was left waiting for everyone else in her class to finish their logs so she could return to the operating room.

The biggest case of the episode revolved around a medical student named Sophia who came to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital with a wooden railing in her back that caused her to lose feeling in her right leg. Lucas was put on the case with Owen and Amelia as the attendings. Lucas formed a bond with Sophia, who told him how badly she wanted to become a doctor. With Lucas and Owens insistence and support, Amelia performed a riskier surgery on her, saving her spine.

Meanwhile, Yasuda was left to deal with all the drunken medical students in the emergency room and was even puked on by one of them. Helm had led Yasuda to assume that shed tried to get her on Sophias case, but Schmitt told Yasuda that was the opposite of the truth. Schmitt had wanted to put Yasuda on the case, but Helm overruled him. Yasuda told Jules she felt betrayed by Helm, which could spell trouble for the couple in upcoming Greys Anatomy episodes.

Things have been rocky between Simone and Lucas in Greys Anatomy season 20 following Simones failed wedding and their hookup. Unable to deny their feelings, they perhaps got together too quickly, further complicating things. Just when it seemed like Simone and Lucas' relationship might be on the right track, their attempted surgery on Sam in the Greys Anatomy season 19 finale once again caused some issues between them.

After being on and off, Simone ended their relationship in Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 3, claiming she had to put herself first. Lucas then called her out, saying she was selfish and had always put herself first in their relationship, playing with his feelings. Since then, things have been tense and awkward between the interns, but Greys Anatomy season 20, episode 5 offered a glimmer of hope for Simone and Lucas when they took a nap in an on-call room together.

Where To Watch Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is considered one of the great television shows of our time, winning several awards and four Emmys. The high-intensity medical drama follows Meredith Grey and the team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial, who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.

Station 19: Ben & Carina’s Grey’s Anatomy Futures Carefully Teased By Showrunner – Screen Rant

Summary

Station 19 showrunner Peter Paige carefully addresses Ben and Carina's futures in Grey's Anatomy, prior to the ongoing spinoff of the hospital drama coming to a close. Ben Warren and Carina DeLuca were originally introduced on Grey's Anatomy, before becoming core characters on its firefighter spinoff. This has included many changes to their lives throughout various storylines. However, with Station 19 currently airing its final season, it's unclear if the pair's story is over, or if they'll return to the original series.

Speaking with TVLine, Paige cautiously discussed what Ben and Carina's future may look like after Station 19 season 7. The showrunner teased the possibility of their return to Grey's Anatomy, but did not specifically say this would be the case. Check out what Paige had to say below:

Its not ultimately our decision, but its a conversation perhaps that weve perhaps been a part of.

Ben departed Grey's Anatomy in season 14, becoming a central character on Station 19, where he's maintained a role as a firefighter. Carina has been a recurring character on the parent show starting in the same season, before becoming a main cast member during season 4 of the spinoff while still in her role at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Both of the characters have forged connections with Station 19's cast, given Ben's job and Carina's marriage to Maya. This makes it unclear if their stories should continue in the flagship series.

Station 19 season 7 episode 4 hinted at the possibility of Ben departing, with his back pain possibly causing a strain that would make a leave of absence necessary. There also appears to be more story between Carina and Maya yet to be told, as the pair continue raising their son, Liam, despite some difficulty adjusting to parenting. These story attributes open the door for either character to continue appearing in Grey's Anatomy, possibly continuing their arcs despite the end of their spinoff.

Ben and Carina have appeared in a recurring capacity on Grey's Anatomy since they became main characters on the spinoff, meaning there's still room for them to return as main cast members in the future. Given the OB/GYN specialist's continued job at Grey Sloan, it makes sense for her to continue appearing in the main series. The issues with Ben's back could also result in him returning to his job at the hospital. However, their reprisal in the core series is going to depend on how their stories end in the last episodes of Station 19.

New episodes of Station 19 air Thursdays on ABC.

10 Best Ellen Pompeo Movie and TV Show Roles That Aren’t Grey’s Anatomy – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Ellen Pompeo dedicated nearly 20 years of her life to Grey's Anatomy, but now it's time to move on. The actress kicked off her career with comedy movies before playing the character that everybody knows her for: Meredith Grey, a caring and sharp-witted doctor who was born to help out others.

Grey's Anatomy has moved on without Meredith, but fans haven't moved on from her yet. Most people only know Pompeo for her lead role in one of the best medical dramas of all time, which is already a lot, but the actress has played many memorable characters throughout the years. One of her best performances, Naomi in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, was unfortunately cut from the movie, making the deleted scenes a must-watch. Hopefully, Pompeo will star in new, exciting movies and TV shows in the future.

Coming Soon is the closest thing to a Sex and the City film set in high school, where a trio of teenage girls decide to help each other thrive in their sexual lives, from losing their virginity to experiencing an orgasm for the first time. Apart from Pompeo, who makes her film debut as an upset student, other veterans such as Ashton Kutcher, Mia Farrow, and Ryan Reynolds play relevant characters in the film.

The film effectively addresses the transition to womanhood through sexual liberation, but it might have come out at the wrong time when feminist values were still taboo in commercial comedies. Still, Coming Soon works as an exciting product of its time.

Fans of the TV show The Bear will have a blast with In the Weeds, a workplace rom-com following the staff of an upscale New York restaurant. Pompeo plays Martha, who's struggling with her first night as a waitress, just when a special guest's arrival leads to mayhem in the restaurant.

In the Weeds isn't too different from other cliche rom-coms of the time but benefits from a vast array of exciting characters. The idea of contrasting backstories clashing in a single environment sets up good opportunities for romance and good character interactions. Pompeo's Martha delivers as a compelling side character at the center of the movie's funniest moments.

Pompeo's fans will have a hard time finding Undermind to stream online, but those who do stumble upon it will find a hidden gem filled with mystery and fantasy. In the film, a successful lawyer and a criminal inexplicably swap lives. They are forced to confront their new social spheres and solve a mystery that defies everything they thought they knew.

The film has a lot of early Charlie Kaufman and David Lynch in it, from the disorienting ambiance to the fantastical elements placed in a grounded narrative. Pompeo is a scene-stealer as Flynn, the main character's charming love interest, although Undermind's MVP is the script, which enables the story to navigate through a variety of genres without losing its charm.

Pompeo wasn't able to redeem the infamous 2003 movie adaptation of Daredevil, but she deserved a second chance as Karen Page. While it's hard to go as far as to call Daredevil a great superhero film, fans might have been too harsh on it over the years: the characterization and tone are fairly adapted. It follows Matt Murdock struggling to balance a promising lawyer career with his desire to disrupt the evil conspiracies taking over Hell's Kitchen.

Daredevil gathers a star-studded cast that includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and Colin Farrell, and while each actor does their best to save the film, the narrative can often feel all over the place. Pompeo steals the show for herself as the iconic Karen Page, who works as a secretary at Murdock and Franklin Nelson's law firm. The character is famously known as Murdock's special love interest, but the chemistry between the two is left underdeveloped in the 2003 adaptation: for creative reasons, Elektra was given the screen time Page deserved.

Catch Me If You Can is a beloved gem from Steven Spielberg's early 2000s career. Based on a true story, the movie recounts the rise and fall of Frank Abagnale Jr.: a young yet highly skilled forger who passes himself as a doctor, a Pan Am pilot, and a lawyer, successfully snitching millions of dollars worth of checks as the FBI follows hot on his tail.

Pompeo plays a supporting role as a flight attendant in a pivotal moment of the film, and despite her short screen time, Catch Me If You Can stands out as the best film in the actress' career. Her scene in the film perfectly showcases Frank Abagnale Jr.'s gift for manipulation, who wins over Pompeo's character with his irresistible charm.

Ross asks Chandler's permission to break the pact and approach Missy, only to find out that she and Chandler used to make out on a daily basis at the college's science lab. Pompeo made two impactful appearances in Law & Order, arguably the most influential show about crime investigations and courtroom dramas. The procedural series, which aired in 1990, is heading toward its 24th season: it follows the routine of talented New York police officers and prosecutors trying to solve all sorts of hideous crimes.

Pompeo made her screen debut in Season 6, Episode 16, "Savior," where she plays Jenna Weber, the daughter of a man suspected of killing his wife and son. The emotionally charged performance granted the actress a chance to return in Season 10, Episode 15, "Fools for Love." She plays Laura Kendrick, who gets implicated in horrific acts of sexual violence and murder because of her boyfriend's manipulations.

It's difficult to label Station 19 as simply set in the same universe as Grey's Anatomy, for this universe would be Seattle, Washington. However, the showrunners came up with a great idea to tie the original show and the spin-off series together by making crossover episodes where the characters of both shows interact with each other.

Pompeo's famously known character, Meredith Grey, appears in Station 19's very first episode as if crowning Andy Ferrera, a firefighter-turned-captain of Station 19 of the Seattle Fire Department. Different from the medical drama Grey's Anatomy, Station 19 follows the professional and personal lives of a firehouse station staff. Pompeo's appearance in the show's pilot marked the first of great crossovers between the two shows.

Old School is a slapstick comedy starring comedy veterans such as Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson, and Vince Vaughn as Frank, Mitch, and Bernard: three losers who decide to start a fraternity to reclaim their glory days at college. Pompeo adds a spice of romance as Nicole, Mitch's high school crush, with whom he reunites at the start of the movie but makes a catastrophic impression.

After almost two decades working on Grey's Anatomy, Old School is solid proof that Pompeo should go experiment with rom-coms once again. Whenever Nicole appears, she enlightens the movie, and although Mitch and her start off on the wrong foot, everything leads to their eventual reconciliation.

Grey’s Anatomy: Cristina Yang’s Return Prospect Gets Honest Response From Sandra Oh – imdb

Sandra Oh doesn't plan to return to Grey's Anatomy as Cristina Yang anytime soon. Cristina's storyline ended satisfactorily with her new hospital job in Switzerland. Oh's focus on new roles makes a return to Grey's Anatomy seem unlikely.

Actor Sandra Oh has opened up about the possibility of her returning as Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy during a future episode of the series. Oh debuted as Cristina in the show's first episode, continually being a major character throughout her time on the series. She eventually left the series at the end of season 10, after she accepts a job as head of a new hospital in Zrich, Switzerland. This gave Cristina a proper ending as she said goodbye to her fellow doctors.

Speaking with Et, Oh addressed how likely it would be for her to come back as Cristina in any upcoming episodes of the show, such as Grey's Anatomy season 21. The star said that,...

Grey’s Anatomy: Meredith Was Missing Derek After Son’s Medical Emergency, But Here’s Why I Think She And Nick … – CinemaBlend

Spoiler alert! This story discusses Never Felt So Alone, the April 11 episode of Greys Anatomy.

Ellen Pompeo made another appearance on Greys Anatomys 20th season in the latest episode, but rather than focusing on her Alzheimers research, this time things got more personal. We got a solid glimpse at just how much Meredith Grey still misses Derek Shepherd when their son Bailey had a medical emergency. Despite Meredith getting annoyed with her boyfriend Nick Marsh (again) over how he handled things, I fully believe this couple is endgame, and Never Felt So Alone strengthened my argument.

Meredith, who was working on her research in Seattle on the April 11 episode, got caught off-guard when her daughter Zola informed her by text that Nick (Scott Speedman) had taken Bailey to the hospital in Boston with early signs of appendicitis. She was furious that Nick had neglected to inform her of that immediately (which is valid) and was able to charter Catherine Foxs plane to rush home.

Thats when we were first clued into the reason for Merediths anxiety. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) tried to allay her fears by reminding her how routine an appendectomy is, and how most of the time mistakes dont happen, to which she retorted:

And most of the time, people who need craniotomies get head CTs.

Like a punch straight to the gut, Meredith reminded us that what happened to McDreamy might have been prevented if the doctors in charge of his care had gotten a CT and realized the extent of his head injury. Derek came up again after Bailey's surgery when Meredith who was still angry at Nick and asked him to leave admitted to Richard when she misses her husband the most, saying:

I mean, of course I miss him. Its just really only when the kids wake up in the middle of the night and I dont have anyone to talk to.

I think every Greys Anatomy fan still stings a little over Patrick Dempseys Derek being killed off, but its just heartbreaking to hear Meredith say it. It also really gives context to her harsh reaction toward Nick. However, Richard pointed out that Meredith does, in fact, have someone to talk to about the kids, and Nicks response to the situation is why I think hes not going anywhere.

When Meredith finally went to talk to Nick about what happened, he didnt let her off the hook, pointing out that hed been staying with her children for two days while she was out of town, and the reason he hadnt called her right away was because he was on the phone with the nanny to make sure the other two kids were taken care of. While I do agree Meredith still had every right to be upset, I definitely see his side of it, and Meredith has to know that if shes trusting Nick to care for her kids, she has to actually trust him.

Nick also said he knows hes not McDreamy. He will never be her childrens father, but he still loves them. Little Bailey even asked for Nick first thing when he woke up from the surgery. Thats a pretty telling sign.

Nick has put up with a lot from Meredith, but he is still there, still showing up for her kids and being patient as she continues to navigate her grief and allow herself to relinquish just the tiniest bit of control.

With five episodes remaining in Greys Anatomys 20th season, I dont know how much more Meredith well get, but Im certain that wherever she is, Nick Marsh will remain by her side. ABCs medical drama is on a short hiatus, set to return at 9 p.m. ET Thursday, May 2. In the meantime, you can catch up on the best Greys Anatomy episodes, as every season can be streamed with a Hulu subscription, and the first 19 seasons are available with a Netflix subscription.
