Anatomy of a K Drama Scene: How Kim Seon Ho, halmeoni’s finale moment cemented the duo as Start Up’s best part – PINKVILLA

*SPOILERS ALERT* In today's edition of Anatomy of a K-drama Scene, we look at Kim Seon-ho and Kim Hae-sook's emotional embrace from Start-Up Ep 16 which also happened to be their last sequence in the popular drama.

*SPOILERS ALERT* As Start-Up; starring Suzy, Nam Joo-hyuk, Kim Seon-ho and Kang Han-na, has finally reached its conclusion leaving fans in a mess of emotions, today's Anatomy of a K-drama Scene is dedicated to the best relationship in the popular tvN drama: Han Ji-pyeong (Seon-ho) and halmeoni (Kim Hae-sook). We're specifically looking at the duo's final sequence inStart-Up Ep 16.

After halmeoni finds out that Nam Do-san (Joo-hyuk) is back and reunited with Seo Dal-mi (Suzy), halmeoni is ecstatic but finds herself thinking about her 'good boy' Ji-pyeong and how alone he must be right now. Especially with sacrificing his love for Dal-mi so she can have her happy ending with Do-san. Halmeoni immediately makes her way to Ji-pyeong's house, which shocks the latter as he knows about her illness (Halmeoni was dropped off by her daughter-in-law Cha Ah-hyun [Song Seon-mi]). As his forever doting guardian angel, halmeoni brings corn dogs and Yakult to cheer Ji-pyeong up. Even in Start-Up Ep 15, it was revealed that one of the things that halmeoni found some hope in amid her blindness was feeding Ji-pyeong.

While halmeoni noted how Dal-mi had told her Ji-pyeong's house was amazing and that it's a shame she didn't see it before, Ji-pyeong has a smile on his face over the food, which is different from his earlier solemn expression. There's a feeling of immediate comfort that Ji-pyeong has always felt when it comes to halmeoni, who is the closest thing to a family for him.

Ji-pyeong brings up the topic of paying off halmeoni's 'emotional support' debt on him by saying he'll buy her an apartment which ticks the latter off and she berates him on the same. "If you feel so bad, do something nice for someone worse off than me," halmeoni states. This inspires Ji-pyeong to eventually invest in Hong Ji-seok's (Yeo Jin-goo cameo) start-up company for orphans as revealed later in Start-Up Ep 16.

When Ji-pyeong exclaims that he owes her and if he were in halmeoni's place, he'd have already gotten it over with, halmeoni gets scared because she thinks her good boy might be leaving Seoul because he can't deal with the heartbreak. While reassuring halmeoni that he's not going anywhere, Ji-pyeong recalls the latter's Ep 1 words to his younger self: "Promise me. If you become successful, don't call me. Don't call me if you become rich and get married. Don't call me if you're happy. I don't want to feel jealous. But call me... if you're going through a rough patch. Come to me if it's raining and you have nowhere to go like you once did. Don't just stand in the rain. You know where to find the keys."

Ji-pyeong tries to lie saying he is doing "a bit to well" but is interrupted by halmeoni, who states, "Don't do that. Call me even if you're doing well. Visit me often. Come see me whether something happens or not... Just come over. Come over and talk nonsense. I'm almost deaf and blind now. You can say and do anything in front of me. Laugh and cry all you want. I won't ask why. So come see me often. You shouldn't get too used to being alone. Don't... become any lonelier, Jipyeong, okay?" As Ji-pyeong fights through his tears and agrees, halmeoni gently reaches for the former's face, wipes his tears and envelops him in a tight embrace. Ji-pyeong's tough exterior immediately shambles as halmeoni sweetly chants, "It's okay. Don't cry. I'm here for you," patting Ji-pyeong's back offering comfort.

The parallels when it comes toStart-Up'sstorytelling have always left fans amazed (the letters, the girl on the swing) but it's the relationship between Ji-pyeong and halmeoni which we will most admire and what will have an impactful effect when we think about Start-Up, years from now. Halmeoni proved yet again in Start-Up Ep 16 just how important her good boy is to her and how much she cares for his happiness. She knows him like the back of her hand, even when blind. Ji-pyeong's confused state of mind over his heartbreak is given more closure knowing that he doesn't have to distance himself from halmeoni because of his feelings for Dal-mi as halmeoni will not allow it.

In their last sequence, it's the subtle hand movements, especially when halmeoni doesn't let go of Ji-pyeong's hand, which tells us that even though Ji-pyeong didn't get the girl at the end, he still has his family and that sometimes is more than enough.

Anatomy of a K drama Scene: Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin’s ‘candle’ Crash Landing on You moment is truly underrated – PINKVILLA

In the latest edition of Anatomy of a K-drama Scene, we look at an underrated romantic moment between Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin in Crash Landing on You where the former uses a scented candle to find the latter.

Crash Landing on You has already reached cult status, even though if it just aired between 2019 to 2020. One of the biggest reasons why CLOY became such a worldwide hit is because of the palpable chemistry shared between Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin as star-crossed lovers. While Bin played the reserved North Korean captain Ri Jung-hyuk, Ye-jin portrayed the confident South Korean heiress Yoon Se-ri.

*SPOILERS ALERT* In today's pick for Anatomy of a K-drama Scene, we take a look at one of the underrated romantic sequences between Jung-hyuk and Se-ri which would flutter the coldest of hearts. While their reunion and kissing sequences are the perfect K-drama moments, we're specifically talking about the scented candle moment from CLOY Ep 5. For some context, as Se-ri heads to the market during her free time, she gets separated from her ladies squad, is lost and finds it hard to trace back Jung-hyuk's address. Moreover, as it's late at night, her sense of direction is even more diluted.

When Jung-hyuk finds out that Se-ri has gotten lost, he cycles his way quickly to the market but can't seem to find her. Eventually, he remembers her obsession with scented candles and buys one, lighting it and holding it high above his head in the hopes of Se-ri walking towards the light. With Davichi's Sunsetfrom CLOY OST as the perfect background score, Se-ri's worrisome face changes into a moment of reflection as she realises its Jung-hyuk, who comes as a literal knight in shining armour rescuing her, always at the right place and at the right time. As she walks towards him, Jung-hyuk breathes a sigh of relief and says, "This time, it's not just a candle but a scented one. Right?" To which, Se-ri smiles bright and says back a simple, "Right."

This scene may seem like a simple cutesy moment between the two main leads but holds a much more meaningful stance as it conveys how important Se-ri has become for Jung-hyuk. Especially, knowing the fact that the two can't be together given the literal 'border' problem between them. Yet, when knowing that Se-ri is in trouble, Jung-hyuk drops everything and goes searching for her. While stoic in nature, you see a change in Jung-hyuk thanks to Se-ri. On the other hand, Se-ri, who has had her fair share of forgettable flings find a safe space in Jung-hyuk, confirming that he'll be there for her, no matter what.

An underrated moment which has so many thoughts and emotions. And, that's all because of a scented candle.

Anatomy of a K drama Scene: How food was used as a symbol of Kim Seon Ho’s love confession to Suzy in Start Up – PINKVILLA

*SPOILERS ALERT* Heading into finale week of Start-Up, we decode an endearing lunch sequence when Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho) confessed his true feelings to Seo Dal-mi (Suzy) over a bowl of noodles.

We're just two days away from Start-Up's finale weekend, which will finally answer the biggest question that has caused a major Twitter debate: Who should Seo Dal-mi (Suzy) have her happy ending with; Nam Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk) or Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho). On one hand, we can argue that Do-san is the one for Dal-mi as she's made it known that she has feelings for him.

On the other hand, Ji-pyeong's letters also play a key role with many fans having major second lead syndrome, still hoping for a JiDal endgame over a DoDal endgame. *SPOILERS ALERT* In today's edition of Anatomy of a K-drama Scene, we look into a heartwarming moment shared between Ji-pyeong and Dal-mi as the former confesses his feelings to the latter. While Dal-mi is shattered to know the truth about the letters, actually being written by Ji-pyeong, the latter confronts her in a restaurant over lunch.

From the very get-go, you notice how subtly Ji-pyeong takes care of Dal-mi. Whether it be having lunch with her so she doesn't have to shift to an uncomfortable seat and eating alone or even clearing out the table, placing the tissue for her along with chopsticks, pouring and passing her a glass of water and even going to the extent of mixing the noodles (bimbim guksu) before starting up on his own. It may not as grand as Do-san's gestures but it's equally important.

Now, let's get down to the best bit; food! Food has always played a major aspect in dramas and this Start-Up sequence is no different. Noodles in Korean is guksu, which is a symbol for 'a long and prosperous life.' Besides having noodles on birthdays, they say you must have noodles at a wedding as well with the symbolism being a long and prosperous life for the newlyweds. Hence, while keeping Do-san in the good light and not undermining his feelings for Dal-mi, Ji-pyeong confesses his own feelings to Dal-mi over a bowl of noodles.

"I like you. I didn't know I'd say this while mixing noodles. I have feelings for you, Ms. Seo. I'm telling you this to be honest, not to make you uncomfortable. It's just how I feel. I don't expect an answer so don't let it bother you. I don't want us to end up avoiding each other because of this. That'd be pathetic. Dig in before the noodles get soggy," Ji-pyeong reveals. What makes this moment even more heartwarming if his next line: "Oh, the pine nut kalguksu that you got me... it was delicious," with a dimpled smile in tow. In context, Ji-pyeong had lied to Dal-mi earlier that he would travel all the way to Gapyeong just to eat pine nut kalgusku, a supposed favourite of his. Again, we see how noodles play a big symbol when it comes to Ji-pyeong and Dal-mi's relationship.

In another episode, when they talk over dinner after SamSan Tech's disbanding, the pair again eat noodles with Ji-pyeong even quipping how whenever they eat together, it's always guksu. The guksu theory has become a fan-favourite amongst JiDal shippers who are still having the minutest of hope when it comes to the two possibly ending up together.

After his love confession, which seemed as though Ji-pyeong was super confident in his approach actually was a ploy as revealed by the character himself in the epilogue of the same episode. Encountering Lee Bo-young's (cameo appearance) scam artist after Dal-mi, Ji-pyeong confesses how nervous he truly was while confessing his feelings to Dalmi. The intricate nature in which his confession was dealt with and the parallel nature deserves a top hat!

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Will Jackson and Jo Become a Real Thing? Some Fans Are Already Calling Them Their Favorite New Couple – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

A new romance has started to emerge during the first few episodes of Greys Anatomy in season 17 and fans are already divided. In the premiere, Jo Karev (Camilla Luddington) asked Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) for a sexual favor that didnt go as planned. But by episode 3, the odd couple had officially hooked up. While some fans are already calling Jo and Jackson their favorite couple, others dont want to watch Jackson get attached to another doctor at Grey Sloan Memorial.

When season 17 premiered, fans knew that the staff at Grey Sloan would be in the middle of the COVID pandemic. However, showrunner Krista Vernoff didnt tease any new romances. When Jo asked Jackson for a hookup in the premiere even though they had never so much as flirted, it was a big shock to fans.

No one saw this coming, and Greys Anatomy fans took to Twitter to share their opinions on the controversial pairing. Many pointed out that they are tired of seeing Jackson jumping from woman to woman. At the same time, others believe that Jo isnt over her husband, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers).

Last season, Alex unexpectedly left Jo for his ex-wife Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) when Justin Chambers exited the series. This did not sit well with fans because it went against everything he believed in. That one decision destroyed 16 seasons of character development for Alex and sent Jo on a cringeworthy path that many fans are having a hard time watching.

Anyone else think that Jackson & Jo getting together is weird asf or just me?? #GreysAnatomy, one fan wrote. Another added, I dont like it. EW!! Jackson & Jo. EW! #GreysAnatomy. A third fan stated, This Jackson and Jo sh*t is pure Trash. #GreysAnatomy.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Luddington discussed her character moving on from her ex-husband while looking back on her controversial season 16 storyline. She says that she wants whats best for Jo but admits her breakup with Alex was shocking.

It did feel like probably the only way that [Alex] would leave her, I couldnt really imagine another way, Luddington explained. So in order for them to break up, it, to me, did make sense, even though it was really shocking.

RELATED: Greys Anatomy Fans Have Strong Opinions On How Showrunners Are Dealing With Justin Chambers Mysterious Exit

Luddington explained that Jo and Alex loved each other for a long time, and there was a lot of good that came out of that relationship. As Jo continues to work on herself and her mental health, Luddington believes fans will see her slowly but surely come out of this stronger.

Luddington says that season 17 will see Jo face a lot of new challenges. She says her character will have moments when she doesnt want to go to work because she finds it really difficult, stressful, and depressing. Through her struggles, Luddington believes Jo is looking for comfort and friendship.

Even though some Greys Anatomy fans are already calling Jo and Jackson their favorite couple, Luddington believes this relationship is more of a seed of friendship right now.

RELATED: Greys Anatomy Star Debbie Allen Claims Season 17 Couldnt Be More Relevant

I think that Jo shouldnt jump into anything serious right now, Luddington revealed. But I think if something organically happens, Im down. I obviously live and breathe this character and just want her to be happy. So if thats with Jackson Avery, its with Jackson Avery. If its with someone else, its with someone else.

Luddington is rooting for Jo to move on and find her true lover, her person. She also wants her character to have a family. The actress believes that is something her character is craving, and she loves that idea.

So I would like to see her happy with a partner, whoever that is and maybe some kids, Luddington said.

New episodes of Greys Anatomy air Thursday nights on ABC.
