In June of 2018, I wrote a jokey article that dared to tackle an unknowable question: Which takes longer, watching every single episode of Greys Anatomy or attending med school? That non-award winning piece of digital journalism history came out a few months before Season 15 of Greys Anatomy debuted on ABC. Shonda Rhimes long-running medical drama is currently in the midst of its seventeenth season, lasting 15 more seasons than NBCs early aughts Mark Feuerstein-led comedy Good Morning, Miami.

Greys Anatomy has produced over 350 episodes, but fans still cant get enough of this addictive small-screen drama. The shows currently on hiatus but its scheduled to return later this year. When exactly will Greys Anatomy be back with all-new episodes? Heres everything you need to know.

Unfortunately, its going to be a while. The next all-new episode of Greys Anatomy airs Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Gilmore Girls Meets Grey’s Anatomy: 5 Couples That Would Work (& 5 That Wouldn’t) – Screen Rant

The characters on Gilmore Girls and Grey's Anatomy live very different lives, but they all want love. Which fantasy crossover couples would work out?

WhileGilmore GirlsandGrey's Anatomyare different in terms of tone and storylines, they both feature many romantic relationships. The characters living in Stars Hollow have experience dating and breaking up, along with all of the ups and downs in between, and Meredith and her coworkers have very active love lives as well.

If the characters on these popular TV dramas met, some of them would make love connections. Others wouldn't be as successful as their personalities would be too different or they wouldn't be able to understand each other. Either way, it's fascinating to think about these crossover couples.

At first glance, Alex couldn't be more opposite from Rory. He's got baggage, a history of bad moods, and he's broken some hearts along the way.

But ifGilmore Girlsfans give him a bit more thought, he sounds a lot like Rory's love interest, Jess, so she already knows how to deal with people who have messy pasts and difficult lives. Rory and Alex would be a good match as she's learned a lot from her romance with Jess and could apply that to this one. Maybe her work ethic and positive attitude would inspire him.

When Owen dates Cristina, the couple struggles with his past and having children, as they differ on wanting to have a family. While Lorelai loves having her daughter Rory and has always wanted another child, it's still hard to picture these two characters falling in love.

Lorelai's energy would be off-putting to Owen, who's a much more serious person. He has experienced too much in life to constantly make jokes, and he doesn't have the greatest sense of humor. Lorelai would wonder why he's so upset all the time.

Although Meredith's past is more tragic than what Paris', as her mother suffered from a serious disease and her husband died, the two have similar intimidating and tough personalities.

Paris and Meredith would bond over the high expectations that they place on themselves and others, and since they're both strong and independent, it seems like they would get along. They would likely become serious quickly because they wouldn't want to waste time with small talknor would theyplay games.

It's hard to think of two characters who have less in common with each other than Jess and April. Jess is the Stars Hollow rebellious "bad boy"and April is a generally optimistic person who likes helping people heal and recover.

Jess and April wouldn't know what to talk to each other about, and since they've each had their heart broken before, they wouldn't want to waste any time dating someone who wasn't the right fit. They might go on one date, but that would be it.

Lane and Jo have both lived secret lives and kept important things from the people in their worlds. Lane goes through high school without sharing her love of music with her mom, and Jo doesn't tell anyone that she's hiding from a partner who is abusive.

If two characters fromGilmore GirlsandGrey's Anatomydated, itcould be Lane and Jo. They would want to hear about each other's love of music and medicine, and Jo would love Stars Hollow, as she's always been searching for a safe and warm place to call home.

OnGrey's Anatomy, Lexie has been involved in some messy romantic situations, especially concerning Mark. She wouldn't want to date someone who has cheated on a partner, especially someone they were married to.

Lexie wouldn't like that Dean slept with Rory while married to Lindsay, and it would be hard for her to move past that and get to know Dean as a person. It's too bad because otherwise, Dean would respect Lexie's work ethic and career, as he always loved how smart Rory is.

A bookworm who has always taken school seriously, Rory is a great match for Maggie, who is equally intelligent and ambitious.

Both characters want the best for their futures and will stop at nothing to achieve what they want. They would enjoy talking to each other about their journalism and medical careers, and they would respect each other's drive to be successful. Rory and Maggie also have a good sense of humor while knowing when to be serious and when it's okay to joke around.

Lorelai has been around wealthy people her whole life, which is why she has trouble accepting Logan as a legitimate partner for Rory.

Lorelai and Derek would probably hate each other.She would wonder why he seemed so arrogant, and she wouldn't buy into the whole "Derek is the greatestbecause he saves lives" thing. She would tell him that he didn't impress her, and he would be offended that she didn't appreciate all of his accomplishments in his career. Derek can definitely be a bit conceited, so he might not respect Lorelai's small-town life, which would be too bad since she has done so well for herself.

OnGilmore Girls, Emily and Richard don't have a relationship without problems, but they share a nice lifestyle and they truly care about one another.

There's another Richard who Emily could start a relationship with, and that's the beloved chief and doctor onGrey's Anatomy. These two characters would like each other as they're both friendly and polite, and Richard is a very smart and sophisticated guy, so he would impress Emily.

Luke may have a "dark day"when he grieveshis father, but he's not one to talk about sad situations.

This is why he wouldn't be a great partner for Jo. He would be uncomfortable with her difficult past, and these characters would struggle to makeconversation. Luke might seem too gruff for Jo, who would automatically think that he didn't like her. Their first date would be awkward and they wouldn't want to see each other again.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Are Still Disappointed Stephanie Left, but There’s a Silver Lining – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

As with many TV dramas, characters come and go on Greys Anatomy. Sometimes the actors move on to other work, sometimes their characters storylines are over, and sometimes they caused too much drama to stick around. Though Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) didnt have any major storylines, she quickly became a fan favorite.

While much of her personal history was filled with pain, her exit is considered one of the best on the show. It was just dramatic enough to keep fans on their toes. Though viewers werent pleased she left, they believe she got the ending her character deserved.

Most characters on Greys Anatomy have a heartbreaking past, and Stephanie was no exception. As a child, she was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia and spent much of her time in the hospital. Though her treatment was successful, it left her traumatized when she was strapped down.

Regardless, Stephanie still chose to go into medicine. She was very good at what she did, but there was more than one occasion when she butted heads with her superiors, especially Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Stephanie wasnt openly rebellious, but she had a mind of her own. And she used it well.

During her time at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, she became an excellent neurosurgeon and worked closely with Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone). She also had a brief relationship with Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) that ended when he confessed his love for April at her wedding to another man.

Stephanies character didnt get as much screen time as some viewers would have liked, but her final episode showed what an amazing character she really was. After she discovered that a patient, Kyle, tried to rape a woman, he took Stephanie hostage to try to escape the hospital. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) placed the hospital on lockdown, preventing Kyle from leaving with Stephanie.

When he realized he couldnt escape, Kyle set the hospital on fire to override the lockdown. Displaying quick thinking, Stephanie sprayed Kyle with hand alcohol. She then tried to flee with a boy who was trapped with her and Kyle.

She reached the roof with the boy, and rescuers were able to save them. But Stephanie didnt emerge unscathed: Burns ravaged most of her body. Once she found herself back in the hospital as a patient, Stephanie was reminded of her childhood, and knew she didnt want to live like that. She made the decision to leave Sloan Memorial in search of a life that didnt revolve around medicine.

Fans still miss Stephanie. Even though she got a heroic ending, many are still curious about where she went and if shell ever return. Even so, its clear she had one of the best exits on the show.

A Reddit user wrote, I think even though I really liked her and wouldve liked to see her stay, her exit was one of the best. She had like a whole episode just for her, and she left in an extraordinary way.

Another fan said, I think she had a good exit compared to other characters who left the show. I chose to believe that she went on to do Doctors Without Borders.

Grey’s Anatomy season 17, episode 7 release date: When is it back? – Express

Greys Anatomy fans have already been waiting over a month for new episodes of the 17th season. However, it seems like the mid-season break will be continuing for a while longer yet. Heres everything you need to know about when it will be returning to ABC and what to expect from episode seven.

Episode six aired back on December 17 before the show went on its mid-season break.

Many viewers thought the show would be coming back in January 2021 like in previous seasons.

However, it has been revealed the break is actually lasting much longer this year.

The seventh episode will only be released on ABC on Thursday, March 4.

Showrunner Krista Vernoff confirmed to Deadline this long break was due to fewer episodes in season 17.

She said: The show isnt back until, I think, March.

But thats because we just have a reduced number of episodes this year because of how late we came back to production.

As well as this, the future of the season has been put in jeopardy by the rising rates of Covid-19 around the world.

What will happen in Grey's Anatomy season 17, episode 7?

No synopsis details have been confirmed for episode seven yet but there are some hints about where the story will go next.

This is because it is likely to pick up on the worrying status of Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pompeo) who is currently in a coma.

Viewers will know she has been struggling with Covid in the show for many episodes now, which has led her to escape into a dream world.

Here, she has seen previous characters who have died, including Patrick Dempseys McDreamy and TR Knights George O'Malley.

Fans are hopeful the next episode may even feature more familiar characters making their return.

Speaking to Variety back in December, Vernoff teased this may be on the cards at some point.

She explained: We all have hopes, but we dont have anything new to report yet.

Viewers will just have to wait until the series returns to find out what this could mean.

Grey’s Anatomy: 5 Things The Highest-Rated Episode Did Wrong (& 5 Things The Lowest-Rated Did Right) – Screen Rant

Sometimes it's best not to judge an episode on the IMDb ratings as it can mean that certain episodes go overlooked. Just look at these examples...

When it comes toGrey's Anatomy,most fans will agreethat the word 'boring' doesn't fix the show's description. How can it when the writers have kept them entertained for years? There has been dramatic love triangles, cheating scandals, and a lot of character deaths. That's not even mentioning how there has also been a bomb threat, hospital fires, and a surgery even taking place in an elevator.

However, that's not to say that all episodes are perfect - especially if newcomers go off the ratings that are found on IMDb. While some have high ratings, there have been many complaints about the realism over certain storylines. The lowest rated ones may be fillers, but even then, they still contain some redeeming qualities to them. Flaws and strengths can be found everywhere.

Since the show had still been in the early stages, fans were still a little ambivalent about the show as they were trying to get to grips with all the characters, medical jargon, and specialties. However, the writers did manage to convince viewers to stick with it when they hinted at what else could be in store.

While it's no secret that Grey's contained some emotional and sensitive themes, the writers did ensure that fans knew it wouldn't always be the case. The show would also contain fast-paced action and comedy elements. This episode had a perfect balance between the two.

Fans will probably agree that the season 2 episode "Let It Be" wasn't the most exciting episode. The reason why it was particularly hated was the fact that the episode focused way too much on Derek and Addison's marital woes as well as their two friends (who fans never saw again).

However, there were still some redeeming qualities to it, especially with the subplots. The fans saw Izzie and Alex's relationship develop. They saw the sweet but tragic love story of the patients Esme and Jed, and not to forget Cristina and Burke's chaotic first date. More attention should have been given to these.

Although both parts of "The Other Side Of This Life" were the lowest-rated episodes of season 3, fans shouldn't overlook it completely. While the episode didn't feature as much on everyone's favorite Grey-Sloan surgeons, it did give them a sneak preview into the spin-off,Private Practice.

With Addison taking center stage, the viewers got more insight into her past - particularly the relationships she made with her college best friends, Sam and Naomi. It was also the episode that saw the introduction of Pete, Violet, and Cooper. If it wasn't for this test, then fans wouldn't have got the other six seasons.

It's completely understandable why fans didn't particularly like this episode as it saw Izzie and George decide to make their romance official and Derek's and Meredith's ongoing drama. However, there was still some interesting character development that occurred here.

The viewers saw a vulnerable side to Cristina, a future hint of Alex's future in pediatrics, and a glimpse of Lexie's personality. They may have been small things at the time but they proved important in the long run.

While most of the Grey'sfandom would agree that the episodes that feature Sadie Harris weren't all that great, but there was still some redeeming qualities. Especially in "These Ties That Bind," where fans got to see Cristina become jealous over Sadie's friendship with Meredith and the beginnings of Mark and Lexie's romance.

Let's also not forget that this was the beginning of Izzie's huge character arc too. This episode foreshadowed big things for the fans.

It's not surprising that "Who's Zoomin' Who" was noted by fans as the best episode of season 1 as it was the first time where the writers threw in a massive curveball. Derek was married and his wife had just turned up looking for him.

It was a twist that no one saw coming, especially since Derek and Meredith had been so infatuated with each other at this point. However, if it hadn't been for this moment, one has to wonder if it would be the most memorable. After all, while there were plenty of comedic elements, there was hardly any plot development. It felt more like a filler than anything.

After a tumultuous first part, it wasn't surprising that many fans wanted to see how it turned out. Especially as Meredith was now caught in the middle of a bomb threat, Bailey was refusing to give birth, and Derek was trying to save Tucker's life.

The action and storylines had everyone on the edge of their seats. However, there was a reason why the episode wasn't a perfect ten. The writers weakened the plot a little with the random Izzie and Alex hook-up that occurred right in the middle of the bomb threat. Not to forget how most of the staff refused to vacate the premise. It felt "too unrealistic."

In "Drowning On Dry Land," the episode instantly picked up exactly where the last one had left off, with Meredith struggling to swim in the pier while the surgeons were trying to help the victims of the ferry boat accident.

Overall, there was a very somber and emotional tone to the episode as the viewers witnessed the pain and grief of the families looking for their loved ones. However, it did feel like the writers should have removed all the personal drama from the plot, especially the George/Callie/Izzie tensions, as it felt unnecessary and took away from the important issues.

The season 4 finale may have been one of the most intriguing episodes in terms of character development, there was certainly some limiting factors to it. Although the teen who got himself entrapped in concrete did make for some entertaining TV, the whole medical case was far-fetched.

Many fans from the medical community couldn't get past the inconsistencies and unrealistic procedures the patient was put through. Maybe it would have got a ten if the writers have researched a bit more into the case?

There's a reason why "Now or Never" stood out to fans. As many fans know, it looked like fans were going to lose two fan-favorite characters as Izzie was seen to go into cardiac-arrest and George was revealed to be the mysterious John Doe. It was a cliffhanger that had fans talking for months.

However, the reason why this didn't get a higher rating on IMDb was because other than this, nothing really happened. Meredith and Derek's wedding was anti-climatic, Mark and Lexie continuously argued about their future and everyone was trying to stop George from joining the army. Compared to other finales, this was a little weak.

Anatomy of a Super Bowl Berth: Tyrann Mathieu, the NFLs great deceiver – Yahoo Sports

Since the start of the 2019 season, Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson leads the league in interceptions with 14. Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard is tied for second with 11, and the guy hes tied with is Tyrann Mathieu, the Chiefs do-it-all defensive back.

Interceptions are an inaccurate barometer of defensive player performance at the best of times, so lets dive into Mathieus charting stats this season: Per Pro Football Focus, he has 40 catches allowed in 60 targets for 515 yards, 233 yards after the catch, two touchdowns, seven interceptions, and an opponent passer rating of 64.9. In 2019, his first season with the Chiefs after signing a three-year, $42 million contract that has turned out to be one of the NFLs biggest bargains, Mathieu allowed 64 catches on 96 targets for 517 yards, 299 yards after the catch, two touchdowns, four interceptions, and an opponent passer rating of 69.7.

In five years with the Cardinals and one year with the Texans before he became a Chief, Mathieu had allowed 20 touchdowns to 13 picks, and never allowed an opponent passer rating lower than 77.6. In 2018, his one year with the Texans, Mathieu allowed six touchdowns to two interceptions. So, theres a lot to the partnership between Mathieu and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, and Spagnuolos staff. Mostly, its the trust that Spagnuolo places in Mathieu to improvise after the snap based on his pre-snap diagnosis. Its made Mathieu the NFLs best guesser, and an irreplaceable cog in Kansas Citys defense.

Thats a good point, Spagnuolo said last week, when asked if hes worked to have Mathieu do even more in the Chiefs defense in Year 2. I hadnt thought about it, but Id probably say yes, that we have gone a little more beyond because there are some things that we do with him now that I dont recall us doing in prior places. Really thats because, first and foremost, him from the chin to the hairline, youre talking about an intelligent football player that loves it. You know that if you feed something to Tyrann, hes going to get it and hes going to know why. In the game of football, we lay out all of these plans and you go from Monday to Saturday and into Sunday, but things change so quick on game day.

The one thing about Tyrann is you can go over to him and say, Lets tweak this or do that. He knows exactly why and he does it. Hes great to have. A guy like that, we all focus on what he does, the stats, gets interceptions, tackles and the whole thing. To me, one of the greatest things about having a guy like that is he makes the other 10 better. I truly believe that he does that with our unit because of the confidence that they have in him and the communication and plays hes going to make, etc.

Now, I could take you through why Mathieu is so great with my own blather, but Ill turn it over to someone who knows a bit more about coverage than I do Richard Sherman, who had a lot to say about Mathieu on the latest episode of the Cris Collinsworth Podcast featuring Richard Sherman:

The Landlord is what he calls himself, and what they call him, Sherman said. And rightfully so. He plays and I hate to say it because its clich and simple, and their games are totally different, but the tenacity and speed he plays with is similar to what Budda [Baker] does in Arizona, and what Tyrann used to do in Arizona. The exception [with Mathieu] is in coverage. He is one of the most instinctual and gambling DBs Ive ever seen, and hes usually right. Id compare him to Ed Reed in that regard, except hes playing more in the box than single-high safety.

I saw him one time, and I think they were in a hot-to-two they were in a pressure, so it was a hot-to-two situation. So, he was taking the special route of 3 over. It was his that was his responsibility. But he saw the quarterbacks eyes to back to the dig [route] of 2, and he fell off and intercepted the dig at 2.

I wasnt able to find that specific play, but Mathieu did something very similar against the Raiders in Week 13 last season. Derek Carr is trying to hit tight end Darren Waller. Mathieu is aligned over receiver Tyrell Williams in the defensive right slot, and he carries Williams through the first half of his deep post. Then, Mathieu breaks from that route and jumps the throw to Waller outside.

Then, there was the pick against Baker Mayfield in the divisional round this season, where Mathieu once again deceived the opposing quarterback as a lurk defender. Of course, when Mathieu lurks, its at a different level.

The other day, he was in a hook when he got his interception, and it looked like they were 2 and he was the middle run-through, Sherman recalled. He took his run-through his responsibility and he saw the quarterback setting up, and the receiver setting up, and he jumped the it was a seam, but the receiver curled back up. And its just remarkable, because these arent the way these plays are drawn up. Its not like, Oh, man, hes executing at a high level. Hes OVER-executing. Hes creating new plays. When you look on the tape, youre not going to be able to say, Hey, were going to get Tyrann out of position, because you dont know what hes going to do. You dont know how hes going to play it.

And even last year, when we were getting ready to play him [in Super Bowl LIV], our offensive guys were like, Hey, we dont know how hes going to play it. We cant plan around that.

The Ed Reed comparison is something Mathieu holds dear, as he explained on Wednesday.

Its everything. Youre visualizing obviously certain plays that you can make, certain moments. You just try to put yourself in those situations. I think for me, being from Louisiana, I was really able to watch Ed Reed up close in person and he meant a lot for his football team. So, for me its all about continuing to motivate myself, continuing to chase greatness, and I think any time you bring up Ed Reeds name, hes usually in a company of his own, so he tends to get my heights set really high.

It may look random and happenstance, but it isnt. Not by a long shot. If you want to guess right as a defensive back at the NFL level, youd better have a plan born out of all the film study you can handle.

I think a lot of it is really based off that, Mathieu said when asked this week how much of his five picks in his last six games are the result of tape work. I dont think a lot of quarterbacks just really throw the ball at me, I think its more schematic and trying to find a way to get the receiver open. But once youre able to kind of diagnose the route concepts and the patterns, I just try to put myself in a position to make a play.

Tyrann Mathieu makes it sound elemental, but he has a way of diagnosing and demolishing routes that very few other defensive backs can match. Josh Allen and the Bills should be up nights trying to figure out how to counter it.

Anatomy of a Super Bowl Berth: Using sim pressures against Tom Brady – Yahoo Sports

We all know the book on Tom Brady, right? Quick interior pressure. That is how you stop the greatest quarterback of all time.

The funny thing about books and blueprints is that often you might think you have the answer, but reality guides you down a different path. In pulling together a potential game plan for the Green Bay Packers defense against Brady, my assumption was that I would find that teams had success in pressuring Brady this season using interior stunts. Attack those interior gaps with twist games up front, and get to the veteran QB.

The film, however, led me down a different path. Towards simulated pressures. Using the definition set forth by Blitzology, were talking about defensive fronts that show the offense potentially five or more rushers, but in reality only send four after the QB from a variety of angles.

As youll see in this video breakdown, that has worked against Brady this season:

Of course, the reason why you want to pressure Brady regardless of how you go about it should be clear. As well as Brady has played this season pressure remains his kryptonite. Where does that rank one of the greatest to ever play the position? 27th among qualified passers. Just ahead of Joe Burrow and Drew Lock, and behind players such as Jared Goff, Ben Roethlisberger, Kyler Murray, Cam Newton and Carson Wentz. This season when pressured Brady has an NFL passer rating of just 54.5, ranking him 21st in the league.

When kept clean, PFF has Brady with an ACP of 79.3% and an NFL Passer Rating of 115.1.

You want to get pressure on him if you are the Packers, and with all the sub packages that Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine uses, simulated pressures might just be the way.

If the Gilmore Girls' Stars Hollow residents and Grey's Anatomy Grey Sloan Memorial doctors all hung out, who would be BFFs and who would be enemies?

At first blush, TV dramasGilmore GirlsandGrey's Anatomyseem super different. One is about a mother and daughter in an adorable town, and the other focuses on doctors saving lives. At their core, though, each show is about the relationships that the characters have with each other, specifically the friendships. From Lane and Rory to Sookie and Lorelai, the Stars Hollow residents are always there for each other. And onGrey's, Meredith has definitely created her own family over the years.

If the gang in Stars Hollow and Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital started hanging out, who would be the best of friends, and who would start fighting?

Rory made some poor decisionsjust like April did. Both characters have a lot in common, as they're studious, intelligent, and want to do well in school and work. They both freak out when they make a mistake and when something doesn't go their way. One perfect example: when Rory sleeps in and misses her big Chilton English exam, and when April fails her board exams the first time she takes them.

April and Rory seem like they would be great friends. They could talk about their dreams for the future and their respective careers, and they would find each other's jobs really compelling.

Lorelai isinfamous for her sense of humorand that wouldn't fly with Meredith, who is known as the "dark and twisty" girl at the hospital.

While Meredith has become a little friendlier in recent seasons, she doesn't do super well with new people. Chances are, Lorelai would burst into the room in a caffeinated frenzy, and her fasttalk and pop culture references would be too much for theGrey's Anatomyprotagonist to handle. It's hard to see these two having anything in common because while they both have tough relationships with family, Meredith's story is much worse.

Cristina and Luke have a lot in common personality-wise. They're both smart and a little tough to get to know, and they don't suffer fools or indulge in random small talk.

It's easy to picture these two characters becoming friends, although it might take them a little while to open up to each other. At first, they would sit in relative silence, and then they would realize that they liked spending time together. Cristina would fit in well at Luke's diner as she would enforce the "no cell phones" policy, and Luke would be interested in Cristina's no-nonsense approach to life and work.

Parisdoesn't have a good relationship with her familyand she has experienced some tough moments. In general, it's hard for her to get along with most people.

If Paris met Jackson, she would be jealous of his career success, and while he might not find her as intimidating as other people do, he wouldn't be impressed by her attitude. The two would verbally spar for a bit before deciding that they're probably not meant to be friends, and they wouldn't have much to talk about.

Over many episodes featuring her friendship with Lorelai, fans got to know how sweet and hilarious Sookie is. She would be a great friend to Arizona, too, as they share sunny personalities and positive outlooks.

Sookie would think that Arizona is the greatest because she helps kids, and she would be happy to invite her over and cook her a fabulous and delicious meal.

Amelia and Jess actuallyshare a dark, sarcastic, and negative view of life at least most of the time. Amelia has faced some hard times, from addiction to loss, and Jess didn't grow up with the safety and security of a happy home life.

A friendship between Amelia and Jess would definitely turn ugly, though. These two would start talking about their difficult backgrounds and all they would bond about is sadness. They each need friends who can balance them out, not be exactly the same as them.

Both Catherine and Emily tend to "keep up with the Joneses" and they want to live a fancy lifestyle. They would like each other immediately and talk about their fabulous lives.

Emily would be impressed with Catherine's career and how she has risen through the ranks, and Catherine would find Emily to be a tough, strong, and intelligent woman. It's easy to see Catherine joining Emily for Friday Night Dinners or some of herincredible parties.

It's hard to think of two characters who have less in common. Owen is a former soldier with PTSD who cares deeply about his coworkers and patients, and Logan is a richguy with a sad past who doesn't know how good he has it.

If these two characters started talking to each other, it's safe to say that they would walk away pretty soon after. Owen would ask about Logan's life and work, and Logan wouldn't impress him, as he doesn't have much of a work ethic or desire to help others.

While Paris often says harsh things, she's a good friend to those she cares about, and it's easy to imagine her getting along well with Richard.

Paris respects people who are intelligent and have a lot of experience, and she would love to learn from Richard. She would find his career fascinating and would ask him a million questions. While he might be a bit overwhelmed at first, he would find her fascinating and funny, and the two would meet for intelligent discussions over coffee.

Alex becomes a nicer person as the show goes on, but it's fair to say that he and Luke share a surly, grumpy personality.

However, these two characters would be too similar to get along well. Alex and Luke would probably get on each other's nerves pretty quickly, and neither one would be interested in continuing to hang out. Alex also has a tendency to get angry, and rather than take the time to get to know Luke, he might walk away before they can really talk.

Capitol Hill violence: Anatomy of chaos in the US, lessons India can learn – Business Today

The United States (US) is in socio-economic and political turmoil again. The storming of Capitol Hill last week essentially corroborates it. It is crucial to examine what took the country to such a situation, shaming it in the global community.

Globalisation and economic uncertainty

A systemic analysis of these developments has to look into what has been going on in the US since 2000 which coincides with the entry of China into WTO and the unprecedented rise of China as a manufacturing hub as well as an economic superpower. Thus, markets across the globe, especially that of the US were flooded with cheap Chinese products and resultant damages to the domestic economies in the form of closure of domestic industries and job losses.

People, especially the white working class, were highly disillusioned and angry. Meanwhile, the US was hit with financial crises created by elites on Wall Street and the administration and these elites were rewarded in the form of bail-out packages at the cost of ordinary taxpayers.

Naturally, people were angry with the economic and political elites due to such policy initiatives. The fierce attack on globalisation by Donald Trump on the one hand, and the embrace, as well as glorification of globalisation by Xi Jinping on various international platforms, echoes the sentiments in their respective domestic economies.

The Emergence of Donald Trump

The best time for a demagogue to hit the political landscape is when people are frustrated with the status quo and are looking for someone who promises to change it (or "drain the swamp" in Washington, according to Trump). The rise of conservative movements such as the Tea Party in 2009 is a good case in point that illustrates the flux in American society after the financial crisis and subsequent economic insecurity.

For instance, while describing itself, the Tea Party on its official website says: "As citizens became increasingly frustrated by "politics as usual," patriots across America began seeking a new voice, one echoing from the pages of history".

This is exactly what Donald Trump did and he plunged into this chaotic situation to tap the resentments of the people for his political power.

The polarisation of people along the lines of colour and creed has been used by Donald Trump as a political weapon. Thus, with Trump's four years in the White House, American society has allegedly undergone tremendous transformation in the worst possible direction.

Distrust among white and non-white communities and economic chaos, especially after COVID-19 has made matters much worse. In addition to all these strategies, the worst thing that Trump did to the US was undermining its democratic institutions, norms, and traditions. As mentioned above, to appease his vote bank, he has thrown several sacred norms and traditions to the wind.

The appointment of Amy Coney Barrett as a Supreme Court judge just before the election and pardoning of his friends and associates, such as Michael Flynn, prosecuted by federal agencies are some examples.

Thus, the US has been in socio-economic and political churning since 2000. All this can be traced back to the economic globalisation and emergence of an alternative superpower, China, to the US and the resultant economic mess in the latter and consequent social and political ramifications.

Donald Trump has messed up the situation further through polarisation of people and undermining of norms, traditions, and institutions. This has created a social genie in the US and what we saw on Capitol Hill last week appears to be just the beginning as top intelligence agencies have already warned of a planned violent revolt across the country in the coming days.

Lesson for India

In the backdrop of farmers' protest, countries like India have a huge lesson to learn from the US. Socio-economic vulnerabilities of the people should be addressed expeditiously without leaving a chance for trouble makers to tap such uncertainties for their personal benefits. Legislations should not be carried out in haste, even in the name of reforms, without taking relevant stakeholders into confidence.
